After reading the article, I could not find the link to the actual poll or how the question was asked to obtain such a result. Also if you notice in the same article, a related story, says that 91.8% of Americans would use "Red Dawn" style tactics if invaded.

So, the question is, was the question asked if they would join the military to fight the invaders, or would they use any means necessary to fight the invaders?

Not as interesting as you might think. Read the article and then read the related article about 91.8% will use "Red Dawn" style tactics.

Ofcourse they would. There are no they thems getting in the trenches, having to be selfless and risk their lives for a cause. Republicans have always been the more patriotic, and tougher group of people.

It's all about how the question was asked.

If I asked "would you join the military to fight an invading army such as what is happening in Ukraine?" I can reasonably guess what groups of people who would score high on that question or yes in the affirmative. Those that never served or those that do not have positive responses toward the military in general would say no.

But if I asked if an army was invading your hometown such as in Kyiv in Ukrained, will you be willing to do whatever it takes to defend your homeland?" Then the responses would be much different than the question above.

If you look further, you see Democrats poll at the same % as women.

Maybe because most women actually are Democrats (56% Dem vs 37% GOP) and common sense mandates most of them would evacuate with the kids.

Democrats are less patriotic than Republicans. That's not just a cheap smear either. It's a statistical fact:

And it's been that way for a long time:

If you don't love your country, you're far less likely to be willing to risk your life fighting for it.

Different people have different motivations, - fight to survive, fight to defend your loved ones, fight to defend your home, fight to end the misery, fight because there is no greater rush, fight for revenge, fight for recognition, fight out of fear of being labeled as a coward or simply out of love for the country.

The thing about the US is the fact that its a moot question, because a Ukraine style invasion is never going to happen, and a regular non-military people will never have to fight. If there was such situation, most people (women, children, elderly) SHOULD evacuate so the question should be directed only at military age males, and then I would suspect a very high percentage would agree to fight, The other poll indicated about 92%.

Countries with conscription and a realistic possibility of being attacked, pretty much everyone serves regardless of political affiliations and I dont think US would be different.

Aren't the actual numbers from the article are:
    25% of Republicans would flee
    36% of independents would flee
    52% of Democrats would flee

Where did you get 47% or 48% from?

Biden was called 5 times to serve. Every time he found another deferment. Ground troops are ineffective in a nuclear war.

I think most Dems (men) would put their hair up in man buns, add some quick eyeliner, grab their rainbow flag,
Grab their Obama and Richard Simmons pictures off the mantle, slip on their skinny jeans, grab a Starbucks with a splash of goat milk and sprinkles, then head to the country with alpha male………Canada.

You don't really believe that 92% of the military age soyboys in the Democrat Party would fight, do you?

I suppose many Democrats are very much in favor of "fundamental transforming the United States of America" by any way available.

Well, Venezuela, Cuba, China etc. are still much more woke/progressive than the USA.
I am surprised that any of them would choose to stay. ;-)

The poll is not about what they would actually do, but what they say they would do, and same goes for soyboys both parties, including the 350lb redneck sitting on the couch while talking tough behind his laptop.

I wouldn't argue with any of that. You don't have to be exceptional 100% to have an exceptional country. Overall, I believe the US is exceptional. You don't. I'm curious why, but not terribly.

Agreed, but as Progressives shape the country more and more into the image they want, I think we know the statistics are still not going to change much.

How do you define "patriotism?" These polls you are citing are linked to policies Republicans are using to forward their agenda. That is not how to determine patriotism, that is how you determine how popular Republican policies are disguised in the ambigupous

So was Trump and Clinton. Bush Jr served but served in the National Guard due to his connections. Tiffany Trump, if the article is true, made sure none of this children would serve or otherwise lose their inheritance.

The only President to have truly served was Bush Sr and modern conservatives think he was a liberal. Go figure.

The point you are raising is fair enough, yet is somewhat overly selective and cherry picking.

Blue Dog Democrats do seem more like to have military service than all Republicans as a whole. But what if we compare all Democrats to all Republicans? Or all Democrat Congressmen to all Republican Congressmen?

That would depend on the questions and how the questions were asked. Depending on how the question was asked, such as the two polls in the OP article, shows two vastly different results.
