    Excerpt:
Murray, who chairs the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, said GOP lawmakers across the nation "have already set their sights on ripping away the right to travel."
"Let's be really clear what that means: They want to hold women captive in their own states," she said. "They want to punish women and anyone who might help them for exercising their constitutional right to travel within our country to get the services that they need in another state. I hope everyone really observes how extreme and how radical and how un-American that is."
I'm a little concerned at the level of control the Republicans are trying to exert here.
To restrict the rights of American citizens who want to travel to another state for a medical procedure?
Those of you who believe in the constitution, what do you think of this?
Personally, I think it's way too far of a reach. The idea that there are some states who want to control a citizens movement from state to state, for any reason, is highly offensive to me.
    What do you think?

The GOP wants to exercise their right to tyranny.

Kind of interesting that the GOP is taking a stance that many of the conservatives here say they hate about the Dems.
Talk about wanting to control the populace!
Next, we will have mandatory religious practices and a national religion.
I hope this is a strong motivator for level headed voters this November!

I disagree with this. But like people who want to own guns in states that won’t allow them, they’re free to move. End of sarcasm.

Man, I wish we could be consistent on who can do what and where they can do it, and by that I do not mean the feds should call the shots.

The reason the GOP is blocking the bill is because they already have that right to travel guaranteed in the 14th Amendment(the State Commerce clause.) it would be an utterly redundant piece of legislation. If I went to go smoke marijuana in a state that legalized marijuana, would my state have a warrant for my arrest for doing so? Hah, preposterous.

I think Republicans are sad to say mimicking Democrats.
Didn't Democrats restrict people's movement two years ago or you doing cherry picking? Suddenly, my body, my right is important.

You didn't read the article, did you.
There are states that are preparing to do just what you said, charge someone with breaking state law by going to another state to do something legally allowed in that state.
    From the article:
Cortez Masto, who made the unanimous consent request to bring up the legislation, pointed to examples of lawmakers in states like Missouri, Texas and Arkansas who have said "they want to pass bills to fine or prosecute women who travel for health care."

read the proposed bill, not the CNN OPINION piece which is the OPINIION of Democrat politicians

it's a rehash of interstate travel/commerce which already exists. The difference is they add the words (reproductive rights) which is BS as well as it has nothing to do with reproduction

More useless, mindless Kabuki theater from the Democrat party. Why don't they get Biden to cancel his executive orders and unshackle fossil fuel?

Instead of cheering this drivel, you should be outraged at the waste of time

    read the bill

and the Constitution protects interstate travel and commerce so no political party can deny that..........none.

You fell for this BS and commented without reading the actual bill and that was the intent of CNN all along

That's the only way consistency can be achieved. How else would you do it, realistically?
I can't see all 50 states agreeing on 10 things, much less a whole list of things.

I don't have the skinny on all the details here but I'll throw this out there:

    1) No one can stop women from traveling to other states. That's unconstitutional, period.

    2) This situation needs to be handled at the state level. The states where abortion will remain legal have the option of denying extradition and comity to states that ban the procedure, and if they want to protect women and providers they had better get moving.

The states listed are Missouri, Texas and Arkansas.
No, I don't believe the crap I type. That's why I type it, just to get a rise out of people like you!
    Sarcasm off.
What kind of question is that? Stick your head back in the sand before you get a sunburn.

However, you're missing the constitutional implications from states banning travel. Any state implementing a travel ban for an abortion would be overturned in a heart beat (pun intended).

fill in the blank with what ever state you wish. You are wee wee'd up about statements made by fringe groups, not draft bills within states. And, you support a bill from A Democrat that rehashes what is already protected by the Constitution. More Kabuki theater; but that comes as no surprise

    https://www.nytimes.com/2022/06/24/us/abortion-travel-bans.html
And they want to be able to punish anyone who even assists a woman going to another state for an abortion.
One question I have is, HOW would they know why someone's travel plans?
    From the linked article:
"Both Texas and Oklahoma recently passed abortion bans that allow private citizens to sue people who perform abortions or who otherwise help someone get one."
So, if I give my girlfriend a ride from El Paso to New Mexico for an abortion, I can be sued by a private citizen in Texas.
Ya'll want to whitewash this, but this is REAL tyranny.
I don't like the direction this country is going, and it ain't the Dems I'm worried about. At least at the moment! lol

We'll put you on the "ok to infringe on peoples rights as long as it meets my agenda" list.

No but they could charge you for conspiring to do something that’s illegal.
It’s BS that they won’t vote yes because it’s already ok, they’re already plotting how to stop it.
