In order would be Hoyer 83, and Clyburn 82...
But, there is some speculation (not yet confirmed) that one (or both) might step aside for the younger generation...
Like Pelosi, Hoyer and Clyburn are in their 80s, and are facing calls for generational change even as they command loyalty and respect from various wings of their caucus. If Pelosi were to step aside, the widespread belief internally is that Hakeem Jeffries, the 52-year-old Brooklyn Democrat and current caucus chairman, would be the front-runner. And he and two other Democrats from his generation and who have been at the leadership table – 59-year-old Katherine Clark of Massachusetts and 43-year-old Pete Aguilar of California – are seen as a team that would round out the top three leadership positions.

I don't love Jeffries personally, but he's clearly pretty smart.

Know little about Clark and Aguilar did a great job on the 1/6 committee and is good on TV (if that counts for anything)

I know MAGA would freak out, but Adam Schiff is easily qualified for a leadership post as well...

I think it would be a great idea to have all 3 step aside at the same time and bring in the sub 60 yo set...

Thankfully, Adam Schiff-face has taken himself out of the pool of candidates.

Then throw them all out and vote for those running in a third party.

Well, I take all announcements from 2 years ago from a person in political office with a grain of salt...

    https://www.politifact.com/factchec...sin-sen-ron-johnson-flips-position-seeking-t/

So yeah, I'm a bit surprised, but not a mind blower either...

Whatever her official title (or non title), as she said, she will "always have influence" in her party while she's there...

If they accomplish nothing more than holding democrats accountable for their corruption I'll be satisfied.

The woman is a GIANT in American politics. I'm glad she'll be around to "Shepard" the new generation.

    My thought is THIS:
IF by some miracle the Dems had kept the House, Nancy would have stayed on as Speaker...
BUT, in the Minority (as Leader) it isn't worth it when you have people waiting in the wings...

He's a vicious bald-faced. He lied about the Trump probe and "you lot" didn't even care that he did.

Who's next to be the House leader for Democrats? Who knows? But one thing's for sure -- it had damn well better be "a Black" or else the bitching and howling of "RACISM! RACISM! RACISM!" will be resounding inside the rotunda of the Capitol for years to come! And as anyone knows, a good Democrat would rather be accused of being a Nazi axe-murderer than of being a "RACIST".... :eyepopping:

OK, Andy -- since you want to split hairs -- OF those that the Republican-led House created, and which do make it to Geriatric Joe's 'desk', there'll be nothing but vetoes. Now. Satisfied...?

It will be either Clyborn or Hoyer most likely. Outside chance will be Hakeem Jeffries.

I thought I read somewhere that Jeffries is already the choice.

Progressives within the Democratic party want him as minority leader, but not sure about the moderate and traditional Democrats though.

Great point... can you imagine walking into meetings with Kevin McCarthy without having his tiny little balls in your iron grip?

Shiver... Don't envy whomever has to go through that for the next 2 years...

I really don't know much about him. Is he a good fund raiser? That seems to be the primary reason to pick leadership. It's all about the bucks they can bring in it seems.

I only cared that you people considered that his clear showmanship was a "lie". Great day(s) of humor for me watching that, I kid you not......

AJ's earlier post indicated a Black man, a Woman, and a Hispanic man are possibly in the final pool.....

By your silly logic, the Democrats will be eventually be called some name anyway (none of which you lot generally understand and wouldn't apply here if you did), so they might as well totally screw up your plan and just vote for the person best suited for the job.

So, am I reading correctly? You vindicate his divisive country hurting lies to nothing more than showmanship?

A Democrat? Vote purely in line with the criterion of "the person best suited for the job"...? Ha! I give you in evidence the demented, falling-apart mediocrity they put up for the PRESIDENCY OF THE UNITED STATES to prove that your observation is, uh, contradicted by the FACTS.

Moreover, the 'token' whatever-she-is (pretending to be "Black") that Democrats added to the ticket in the role of a vice-presidential candidate is yet more evidence, if you need it, that they're happy to scrape the bottom of the barrel in their pandering attempts to appear as being 'diverse' and 'inclusive'....

[IMG]. "No, really, I'm BLACK... can't you tell...?" :confuse:
