Governors appoint Senators, but, House members must stand for vote. Article 1, Section 2, Clause 4 So, you could have situation where a vacancy changes the majority, then the election results in a member of the same party being elected, with the majority switching back. The Governor, of course, would help determine the timing of the election to fill the vacancy.
EXCEPT Governors Can NOT Appoint House Members... Governors Can Only Appoint Senators... House Vacancies (In ALL Cases) Require an Election... House vacancies can be caused by death, resignation, declination, withdrawal, or House action, but the Constitution requires that they be filled by election. The law concerning Members elected to fill vacancies varies according to when the vacancy occurs and applicable state law. https://history.house.gov/Institution/Vacancies-Successors/Vacancies-Successors/
Yeah, I remember he said that in January 2021 and then a few weeks later was at Mar A Lago kissing Trump's arse.
AT least for now, I don't think they will have any impeachment committee proceedings because those few Republicans will cross party lines and vote no on such bills or even refer to the committee. I also think that McCarthy's plan which he kinda hidden from the public will not come to full fruition. A lot of it was there to please the Freedom Caucus.
Amen to that. Stopping the failing policies and spending of the Democrats sounds good to me. And just remember, Bill Clinton found a way to make things happen with a fully Republican congress so please don't tell me this is all on the Republicans.
Bill Clinton didn't have to deal with MAGA... He wouldn't have been able to do any better, since they are not interested in the business of governing... And you know it...
I’m happy with that. I’ve always favored divided government. Divided government simply means to me one or the other party can’t push their one-party agenda on all of us as each major party does when in full control. What divided government means is some compromise is needed to pass new legislation, new programs. Whether the two parties do that, compromise or play the old political game of give and take is irrelevant. The important thing is one party or the other can’t push its single party agenda on the rest of us, roughly 70% considering the base of each party is around 30% of the electorate. I dislike one party rule, in full control, then that party only governs for its base forgetting or ignoring the remaining 70% of us.
You mean like Biden saying as long as they agree with me, I will work with them. Sounds a lot like being not interested in governing, but maybe he thinks he is God and nobody will tell him he is not. And you know it...
If you win one battle, you may win the entire war -- or -- you may not. Still, yes, it's better to win a single battle than to go on winning nothing at all. We have to confront the stark reality that we (meaning Conservatives in the House) cannot override a veto -- and you can bet your ass that there will be plenty of those! And, of course, Schumer and the 'woke' minions in the Senate will be fighting Conservatives every single step of the way... as usual. So, I suppose you could say that 'we've won a beachhead'. Now, the art of the thing is not to get SLAUGHTERED trying to survive on the damn thing after our enemy pulls itself together and reinforces itself, and comes after us. Never forget the lesson of Dunkirk! And there's no guarantee that we'll be as LUCKY as the Brits were back then....
Biden has the Senate, the pubs the house. Biden is the consummate politician. He will get lots done and the pubs nothing. They're gone in 2024
LOL... good old idiot Newt... nothing wrong with restocking the IRS depleted by COVID and Mango... AND... I hear they're all going to be armed to the teeth, so more guns on the streets... WIN/WIN!!
This ain't baseball, and that ain't a ****ing scoreboard. Those numbers represent human persons, with their own minds who can make their own decisions. Remember how solid that majority in the senate was..... not? A letter next to the name doesn't guarantee 1) a vote the party would support or 2) a vote based in common sense, reason, and constitutional principles. The closer those numbers are, the fewer people have to break lock step on an issue.
Huh? How will there be "plenty of those" (vetoes)? Something would need to pass Both Houses to even make it to the President's Desk... And, any Moronic Idiocy spewing from McCathy's House will be DOA in the Dem Senate... Totally LMAO at "plenty of vetoes"... "plenty of those" (vetoes)...
Nancy just announced she will not run for a leadership post in the next Congress.... A great loss, but it's probably time to move on... Who's next on tap??
Awhile back, she said she had no plans to run again. Why is this a big surprise? Four Democrats who could replace Nancy Pelosi | Washington Examiner
