Reverend Pompeo, The False Prophet

I am STATING that in accordance with Article II of the US Constitution, POTUS is C-in-C and can do whatever he pleases with US forces.

I am stating that AUMF was pure sophistry intended for gullible and uninformed souls like yourself, and that it is the linchpin of our global war of terror.

To be clear, even before that bit of dangerous sophistry was written, POTUS already had that power, to use military force.

You were not the only one deceived by that bit of sophistry.

No he can’t do whatever, the constitution requires on congress can declare war, and the war powers act limits him as well. Congress did authorize the use of force

 

The cloying, hypocritical religiosity of Pompeo Magnus aside, his righteous posturing is slightly ameliorated by his capacity for acknowledging reality, when kowtowing to a moronic narcissist is just too, too absurd.

Well, no. Did you live or pay attention during that time frame? Or before Dubya even?

 

You can say what you want about Saddam but at least he was able to keep the various factions in Iraq in check. The US was better off letting him do that so that all they would have to worry about was keeping him in check. We spent so much money and have created so much ill will towards the US that will endure for many generations as a result of Cheney and Rumsfeld's stupidity.

 

Congress "authorized the use of force" that already existed in Article II. That makes the AUMF superfluous and redundant, and as time has shown, most dangerous to this country. Ike's worst nightmares have come true with a vengeance.
