Rittenhouse trial goes to opening statements after jury set (apnews.com)

The jury is set: 9 men, 11 women. At least a couple are gun owners. Opening statements tomorrow morning. Hopefully Kyle is acquitted in short order, but given some of the dumb questions and statements by potential jurors today, I'm not as optimistic as I once was.

I would not be surprised in the slightest if prosecution had sought federal assistance in the juror background check process. You know they don't want anyone in that pool who isn't a BLM/ANTIFA terror group supporter.

But regardless of if that happened or not, it actually doesn't matter. As soon as those jurors show their faces BLM and ANTIFA will be doxing and threatening them.

They should have asked 1 question: if I have a firearm clearly visible, and someone bull rushes me, can I shoot?

10 years ago he wouldn't have even been charged. The video alone exonerates him but these days self defense doesn't matter if you shoot some extremist that will put you on the ground while 5 of his buddies pound you to death, it doesn't factor in because magically, they were all good boys who went to church with grandma every Sunday.

He’s innocent. This is nothing but a political circus-show.

Either Self Defense is legal or it's not. Let's see if our Justice system has been perverted beyond repair.

I can see them getting the guy that gave him the AR-15 on a weapons charge and perhaps Kyle on that sort of thing too.... but that's about it.

Is he going to take the stand?? That seems to be the question du jour (or question of the day for my conservative friends)

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/risky-move-could-save-kyle-122127109.html

Little chance he walks away clean, but if he does, I'm sure he'll do it armed...

"If I get either of you alone I'm going to kill you." Seems Rosenbaum made his intentions pretty clear.

Well the last trial we had involving a high profile case like this I think the looming threat of a riot prejudiced the jury.

The left absolutely wants to pervert Justice and they will stop at nothing including holding peace and civility hostage.

I thought that about the cop that killed Ashli Babbitt. Kyle was defending himself. He is a nice young guy who did community service.

The only surprise for me today was when I found out that Grosskreutz(shot in the arm guy) lied to the cops during his initial interview, and claimed that he was unarmed when Kyle shot him.

When the police told him they'd recovered his gun, he said he had dropped it before he confronted Kyle. That was clearly a lie, as he was seen on video holding the gun even after he was shot.

He also told the cops that he initially approached Kyle to defend Kyle against skateboard guy.

There's a lotta lies that he's going to have to answer to when he gets up on the stand, and I'm sure that's going to sour the prosecution's attempts to portray him as an innocent victim.

Oh, and, after he was shot, Grosskreutz racked up his second DWI charge.

    No comparison, whatsoever. NONE.

Besides, the Cop was Never Charged.

The cop that killed Ashli Babbit was defending his country, and doing his job...

Two things that certainly don't apply here, but thanks for giving me the opportunity to point those out... Appreciate the tee....

Not really though. At best, he was defending some of our cretin politicians, but even that's a stretch given that the victim was unarmed.

I'm way behind at listening to the prosecutor's opening statement still, but so far, I think it's not going well for the prosecution. I actually had to double-check and make sure it wasn't Kyle's defense lawyer talking. His first ~500 words were a pretty solid case for Kyle's self-defense claim.

Hmm....I don't know. I think he will be found guilty of homicide. He didn't walk in there with an AR15 by an accident.

He is at the mercy of the system and will get whatever is coming at him, although it could be acquittal if the self-defense argument stands.

That is not enough, but there was also running around and plastic bags etc. I'll have to watch the videos again.

I remember when I saw the video of some Senate staff guy talking to some of the protesters in the Senate. Something like "You know, guys this is like a really sacred place." I actually burst out laughing, out loud, right there in my bedroom. Congress, through their own actions, has more thoroughly sullied the place than if they'd smeared actually feces all over the walls and ceiling. There's nothing that the protesters could have done on January 6th to harm the "concept" / institution / ideals of our country that Congress itself has not already done 1000x worse.

Anyways, that's a topic for another day. Right now, we're talking about Kyle Rittenhouse and the way he cleaned up Kenosha in the midst of rioting, looting, vandalism, arson, and general lawlessness.

Yeah I was thinking that listening to the prosecutor interviewing Kyle's friend. He made the friend go into details about gathering medical supplies to help people and about cleaning up graffiti. I've only seen bits and pieces but the only argument I caught where he tried to portray Kyle in a negative light was in his opening statement where he talked about with all the chaos abounding during the riot, that Kyle was the only one who shot anyone.

In conjunction with Rosenbaum being the aggressor, chasing Kyle through the riot and then going for Kyle's weapon after previously stating he intended to kill him, I do believe it is enough.

having an AR-15 even using it defensively doesn't equal criminal behavior.

Seems like you want him found guilty of homicide for the simple act of possessing a firearm.

The prosecution stated there was chaos in Kenosha. That sounds like exactly the time I would want armed people standing around my business.

The prosecution also gave the gift of the heretofore unseen overhead FBI video, that clearly shows Rosenbaum and gang lure Rittenhouse with a vehicle fire in an attempt to ambush him.
