Hahaha .. good one (my bold) :D

Meantime, if by 'better educated' you mean more dumb-dumbs going to college, then I'll pay that. If by more 'diverse' you mean people of all political persuasions, then I'll LOL again.

These are names used for white folk, in non-white parts of the world. As in, frequently used by NON-WHITE people, to denigrate white people. Understand?

No it's not a personal question, it's a moronic question.

Well I am and I don't know what a white person is called in China and I really don't care. Now when you want to ask about what is happening in America let me know.

Not easy for some to answer in a public forum. At least you have considered it.

Maybe a better question would be, "Why can't a 'guy' just be a guy, instead of being subdivided into some ethnic construction?

There are three major races that make up humanity, and there's no denying that. BUT, we are all equal under the law and before the Constitution (and have been, completely, since the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and the Voting Rights Act of 1965).

The way we "act" is loosely based on quite a variety of anthropological, biological, and cultural criteria, slowly 'baked' into cultures and sub-cultures over millennia.

It's an asinine question given the history of the word when it's directed at someone black by someone white.

You probably can answer that better than I can.

That's what we have been told.

I go along with that to a certain degree.

Look, brutha -- to 'cut to the chase', I know that we've rarely ever agreed on anything through the years. OK.

But for the sake of humanity, I hope you can agree with me that the only real hope for us is to become completely intermixed and interbred with each other -- all three races -- and to do so within the next approximately 200 years. Each race appears to have certain conspicuous advantages and strengths. And if all three races become ONE race, then we won't have to hate each other, and instead, we can enjoy the advantages and strengths of a all races. I know it sounds like 'fairyland' dreams, but what other choice do we have?

White guys 'acting' Black? Black guys 'acting' White? How about a real, true, genuine "Master Race" comprised of all the best attributes of all three races?! If we have a future as a species, surely it must involve a blending of what is best in ALL of us!

[IMG] . Is this what one, unified human race might look like in 200 years from now?

You would be more open to answer if i were black? The focus is the word and being able to negate the control it holds over you. Change to a different word that you react to with shame or fear or hurt. The goal is to stop the control the word has over you.

I agree with that, but black folks haven't been the ones behind the separation.

    Again I agree.

No I wouldn't, because if you were black you wouldn't even ask me a question like that.

The focus is what the word has stood for against black folks.

If you think we react to that word with shame, fear or hurt you really don't have a clue.

An interesting feature of this is the difference (or lack of) between black and white Britons, and black and white Americans.

In the UK, there is no black 'accent' or really much of a black culture. You cannot tell the difference between the speech of white Brits and black Brits. Close your eyes, and you'd never know who was who. The two groups blend and mix freely, with very little distinction, or interest in segregation.

Why there is such a cultural divide in America, even to the point of an almost entirely different accent, is the great mystery. There should be MORE homogeneity as time goes on, not less.

I would hope that i would as it would probably mean more to me as a black person to help another black person be free of the bondage the word provides.

understood, wouldn't it be more productive to be not be distracted by a word and put more focus on the real problem?

More of a clue than you realize. Most likely a combination of all 3 if you dig down as how you feel. Why you feel that way is the tricky part. The purpose is to get past the defensive reaction and break free from the control the word has over you.

    What bondage is that exactly?

    What is the real problem?

What control does it have over us exactly.

Bound by the feelings and reactions of what others say. If you don't believe in what is said there should be no urge to defend. If you react defensively (internally or externally) then there is some level of belief.

    True acts of racism.

The control can be as simple as manipulation, someone using words just to get a reaction. Or more complex in that they touch a deep seeded fear or hurt that we don't want to admit or face.
