I think the US tactic from the outset was to attempt to isolate Russia politically by drawing them in. The media have dutifully played their part. That explains why, for example, McCain's narrative while being interviewed live from Kiev on Channel 4 News earlier tonight went unchallenged by the host, Jon Snow. It apparently hadn't occurred to Snow that McCain's grievances with respect to Russia's alleged intervention in the Crimea on the one hand, and the former's presence in Kiev, on the other, are inextricably linked. Snow nodded in agreement in response to McCain's anti-Russian rhetoric and pro-American propaganda. The media are emphasizing the alleged Russian intervention but have ignored the conditions that gave rise to it. Painting Russia as the bad guy was the intention.

Twenty eight thousand civilians were killed, but guess what? Nothing was said, instead our news media says thirty thousand were killed in the war between them. I just heard a news bulletin on the radio that included a soundbite from Obama claiming that "there will be serious consequences for Russia should it be proved that they have undermined Ukranian sovereign integrity". Of course, US meddling in Kiev that led to a coup did not constitute the undermining of Ukranian sovereign integrity which is why nobody in the mainstream media feels it relevant to draw upon that parallel.

 

McCain's a nut job. According to a report in Debkafile the U.S. is backing out of Ukraine because the people soon will be demanding food and medicine and it ain't gonna be there. Merkel didn't want Russia to have Ukraine, well now it is Germany's to feed. Did Merkel and Obama really think Russia was going to give Ukraine the money to survive after what happened?

As I mentioned in another thread, the suffering of the Greeks under the German school marm of austerity will be nothing compared to what the Ukrainians are going to face. I only feel for the innocents who were deceived like a friend of my granddaughters. If they paid attention to the real situation and weren't driven by illusions, they would have realized what the situation was and had a bit of gratitude towards Russia for the sacrifice it was willing to make.

 

The neo-fascist run oligarchy of Ukraine has no democratic legitimacy whatsoever. The country will be asset-stripped by the neoliberal free marketeers and austerity-implementing gangsters.
