We the people, the people of the American Colonies, first created the government of the Continental Congress. It failed after a few years, and then the people, the country, formed the second government, nominally the one existing today.

The point is, which you already know, is that we the people existed before either of those governments we created. That means that logically, they cannot be the same thing, country and government.

If you will, country created government to serve the people, to improve the general quality of life.

Logically the two are separate things. As George Washington noted and all at the time knew, government is like fire--a useful servant but a fearsome master. We see the wisdom of the ages on display today.

Yes. I'm not sure how it responds to the post I made but your historical analysis appears to be on the mark.

Yes... and certainly a prominent part of post-World War II American culture... which the hyperliberal, radical Left has been toiling like ants to sh!t on, or, just get rid of ever since they started spreading their "wokeness" to turn this country into a society of NOTHINGNESS....

I don't give a flying [expletive] about the game. Don't watch it. That being said, the millionaire players should be grateful for the opportunity to earn millions in the US and be grateful for the opportunity to sing the US anthem.

The NBA is racist. How many Asians play in the NBA? I guess they do have a token white player here and there.

I wonder if Mark Cuban now understands that frankly, he doesn't represent the vast majority of people in this nation, who frankly don't give a shyte about whether he thinks the national anthem "represents" or not. When Mark made it more about not offending the Chinese to ensure he made more money, he stopped being representative of anyone in this country.

If the NBA had quotas, can you imagine what the NBA would look like?

NBA basketball always makes me think of some kind of ritualized ghetto-brawl, where guys in their underwear run up and down a tiny 'court', playing a stupidly repetitive game of 'hide-the-breadfruit'. If it weren't for occasionally well-tossed "three-pointers" there would be nothing of interest in a game like this at all....

This is true, but the lack of spiritual love for this country is seeping into our national politics. I mean, even hear the reason cited by Cuban. This to me, is an absolute disaster for a country moving forward into the future. If you don't love your country, how can you participate in it? If you don't love your country, it gives more opportunities for cynics like Donald Trump to seize on that.

We've got to somehow defeat the message coming out of the progressive part of democrats that is looking to attack America all the meanwhile trying to seize political power in the country. Those who don't love America, don't deserve the right to the political stage.

Concur, Trump betrayed the message(maybe betray isn't the right word for someone who never truly believed it) and thus he lost the election in a landslide.

But I still believe in the message that America First means everybody in this country comes first. No more $600 dollar checks. No more political and social division. I don't want to meme people or tease people, I just want us to come together.

The NBA shat themselves with their woke insanity and Pro-Communist China and Slave Labor positions. They lost a significant part of their fan base and Cuban is throwing more gas on the fire.

They continue to play the Anthem before sporting events, and embellish that with other displays of militarism, so that our perpetual wars can be supported in the mind of the gullible. They do it to support the Global War Of Terror that is the hallmark of the US government today.

I don't believe that, I think it's more out of habit of what had been. Not the way it is now.

It's easy to say that it's out of habit, and maybe that's the case, but it seems an over-simplification.

Flags the size of football fields and the presence of military members 'doing the honors' suggest a bit more than just habit.

Recruiting has always been tough, and I think it's down for the last 10 years or more. Militarism on display has a purpose.
