The comment that his was answering was not satire. Was serious. It is easy to know when is ironic or not. And mainly because we all know the person that made that comment.

The comment was awfully homophobic.

 

I took him at his word when he said he was joking. Was I wrong in assuming he was actually joking?

 

Maybe I was wrong. In this forum I've seen so homophobic comments and I thought that previously I saw this same user making homophobic comments, maybe I was wrong.

If he says that was sarcasm also I will take his word. I didn't see that comment when I answered.

I also knew I was straight at 7-8 already, and probably sooner if we account for childhood amnesia. This is not surprising for me.

They should never even heard these words used in that context at that age.

I was 7 years old when I first realized I was a lesbian trapped in a male body.

 

So someone force fed their little kid a steady diet of Glee and now the kid thinks he's gay. What result were people expecting?

 

I really doubt you really know your sexual preference until at least 11-12.

 

What this shows is that if you surround your child with gay people and let him watch gay-friendly TV shows he is very likely to get the idea that being gay is desirable and want to be gay himself.

Right because being surrounded by ten times the shows the feature straight people, movies that revolve around heterosexual couple wouldn't out-stripe glee.

The kid watches Glee and is surrounded by homosexual couples. If this isn't the most obvious case of environmental influence, I don't know what is.

If that's true then I'll be happy; my youngest and I usually watch the science channel and the history channel, with an occasional Big Bang Theory lately. I <3 my little honor roll, teachers assistant, wants to be a scientist, nerd.

A 2nd grader knows what his/her proclivity is or should be.How demonstrably absurd.
They're not even close to puberty and the sexual awakening.It's like saying a teen knows all about being an adult.
They haven't a clue as to what their private parts are for at age 7,let alone
recreactionally.They barely know simple addition & subtraction.
Probably just learned the alphabaet,yet are old enough to recognize their
Proclivity,which REQUIRES in the least some form of trial & eror.

I think that consciously awareness would come around that age for most; but there might surely be exceptions.

The various/possible factors which may cause/influence homosexuality, are likely in place well before a person actually realizes their sexual-orientation.
