You asked for the scripture and I gave it to you. BTW who's judging? I posted this on another thread but you must have missed it.

"What consenting adults do is their business and no one else's." UNTIL they decide to force me to go against my faith in doing so. If gays come into my bakery and want to buy a dozen cup cakes, I will gladly sell it to them. If they ask for a blank wedding cake, I will gladly sell them one. If they ask me to decorate a a gay wedding cake that reflects that, I will gladly tell them to go elsewhere to get that done. It's my business and no one has to shop there. With that in mind, if I made a gay wedding cake, I would likely lose much more business with my Christian customers for supporting a specific sin in the Bible. No one has the right to force that on myself or my business. You don't seem to understand it's a matter of extension. If I sold cell phones, it simply wouldn't matter who they were sold to, you got the money.....you got the phone. The customer being gay extends nothing onto me sell him/her a phone, a baker being forced to decorate a gay wedding cake does.

It's a two way street, should a gay baker be forced to make a cake decorated with the words "Gay Marriage is Wrong and a Sin"?

The books of the Old Testament are not the words of Jesus. The New Testament including Romans. The book of Romans is a letter from the apostle Paul to believers living in Rome about 58 a.d.

21 No descendant of Aaron the priest who has any defect is to come near to present the food offerings to the Lord. He has a defect; he must not come near to offer the food of his God.

You forgot this part in order to take it out of context.

How do you actually define "to force me to go against my faith"? See, this is all so subjective, this interpretation of an old compendium of religious writings and deciding what is or is not in accordance with your religion. There needs to be a reasonable limit on what people can get away with in the name of their faith, else society could get pretty ugly pretty quickly.

On the other hand, I don't think the law should be used to force people to do something like serve a customer through their business. It should be up to the business owner to decide whether and how s/he wants to serve someone. So, where is the healthy middle ground here? Is there one at all? Right now we have two stubborn parties or side who want their will enforced by the law, whereas I say the law should not be involved in this one way or the other. The law is there to protect people's rights, and in this issue I don't feel that people have a lawful right to, as you say, force someone to decorate a cake for them. This may lead to unfortunate acts of discrimination, but then society also has ways of correcting such things without resorting to calling the cops and/or involving the courts...

Jesus never said anything about homosexuals, in fact many say Jesus was in fact a homosexual himself, just hanging out with his guy friends all the time

I agree with you partly, I do not feel you have a right to force someone to decorate a cake or do other artwork for you.. BUT once that cake is put on display it's a product, not a service and at that point it must be sold if you said you were selling it....

now baking the cake itself is like making any other food product... only the art work should be exempt imo

there are common sense lines here, but some on both sides want to take it too far....

I wonder how Christian bakers feel about baking cakes for divorced persons getting remarried?

But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, makes her the victim of adultery, and anyone who marries a divorced woman commits adultery.
    Matthew 5:32

Nice clear verse there. More easily understood and applied than that out of context bit that Peabody tried to cite earlier.

It says as much about race and gender as it does about decorating cakes or arranging flowers for 'sinners'. If its not in there for bigots ,they ought not claim it an exercise of their faith to enslave blacks or to forcibly segregate the races. Likewise, if it is not in there for bakers and florists, they ought not claim it is an exercise of their faith to deny gays their professional services. I realize decorating that cake would make you uncomfortable. That is simply not sufficient to show it is an exercise of your faith to refuse.

I am not about forcing Christians to decorate out of sport. I suggest that bakeries

    1. make sure they hire someone who does not mind, so that the rest of the social conservatives need not worry. Considering that baking/ decorating these cakes requires plenty of notice, these businesses have time to figure out how they will fill that order. Its not an order you get 3 hours before it due.

    2. find ways to decorate wedding cakes that will be gender neutral, so that the exact same words will work for hetero and homosexual weddings, post the options insist the employees not diverge.

    3. If none of these are judged to be workable. Inform employees that cannot serve the needs of a gay couple, that they have 30 days to find another job.

I don't care how the bakeries go about solving this problem. That is completely up to them. They do not have to force this upon a social Christian employee , they jut have to make sure it is not my problem when they don't.

I am glad you asked that question. May I interest you, openly, regarding investing in morals testing companies on a for-profit basis?

    Congratulations!

Hitler used that same (and other NT scriptures) to justify exterminating Jews.

Id say that what we are seeing happening to this Pizza shop in Indiana demonstrates that we desperately need it. And a public education campaign to inform the citizens.

Of course. Would you admit lazy or unfit people into a military, illiterates into a University or criminals into a police force? Maybe you would... if you're a fool...

The moment that a business has lost the power to choose its customers or employees because of the interests of "the people", is the time that society has fallen into the failed economic theories of socialism.

Businesses should continue "discriminating" whenever it is in their own interest. An important part of modern economics is competition- if a business is too "discriminatory" then it will lose its customer base anyway. Thereby all businesses have an incentive not to go overboard in excluding people of whom its owners believe are incompatible with it. Most things in life have a habit of regulating themselves- just like gravity- and require no meddling by idealistic, rebellious humans thinking that they can do better than the status quo- one that has existed since the first man decided to barter an item. If humanity meddles too much with gravity or nature, we'll all suffer. Affirmative Action-type policy has always been that same form of meddling applied to economics. And caused that same misery to perhaps half the world during the Cold War, socialism, little more than Affirmative Action in overdrive.

It's really just as simple as going to another business if the first one rejects you- in the same manner as if your job application was rejected by that same business. Those leftist business owners- hypocritical as that term is, as you are now leftist capitalists- will gladly practice the same exclusiveness against those typically identified with the right- would you employ or sell goods to a self-proclaimed fascist? Now you have the cheek to whinge when that same exclusiveness is applied against you- yet rightists have never complained about being excluded from business, as they have always defended the economic status quo that leads to the conditions of which you complain about in the first place- capitalism... the only system that has ever worked.
