You care enough to say you don't care.

Although seriously I know what you mean.

We're talking a libertarian society. You're confusing it with a liberal one.

Nope, I was accurately describing the only functional floating cities in the world.

LOL...what can they do for us? What is our incentive to enter into a military alliance with them?

You dont get into a military alliance just because you ask.

Then they arent that wealthy. Or they tax and have their own military.

Do you have any examples to the contrary?

Iceland. They have no standing military, are members of NATO and for the life of me, I can't see what they do for us.

They seem to be under a protective set of alliances though.

How about Costa Rica? They abolished their standing military in 1949. They are in a military protectionist alliance with 22 other nations including the US.

There are numerous others from Liechtenstein to Samoa to Monaco to Panama.

There are any number of reasons why the US might want to protect another sovereign nation despite getting goodies from them. A new sovereign like this would be a good base for setting up Seal training. Naval re-provisioning. Secure database installation.

An interesting idea, but I can't see liberals flocking to their own islands. Most pioneer societies don't really need a lot of gender studies or art history majors.

But eventually the liberals will come. If the concept works and the island societies are successful, the liberals will come and change everything that made them successes in the first place.

Are you saying it must be large to be give credence to it? They must have poor people living of their government to be valid? Or that if they transform as they go and stray from a principle they are a failure?

I am saying that the dynamics of a personal group differ from an impersonal group. This means that after a certain capacity the results might change qualitatively, perhaps for the better or perhaps for the worse.

If they stray away from the principle then they have failed in showing that the principle is successful.

Curious, would you say the principles of freedom as laid out in our Declaration and Constitution have failed?

Ridiculous. When people stray from the principles of reasoning, does that mean the principles of reason are unsuccessful? Conversely, does it mean that the lack of reason is more succesful? Perhaps it would be helpful to define what you mean by successful.

LOL... If they end up with a president named Andrew Ryan, that will be hilarious...

I said they failed to show those principles are successful, not that those principles aren't successful.

The modified form has been highly successful.

So on a floating city, in the middle of the ocean, there'll be no limitations on what they can do structurally to the environment?

I'll have a few quid on the date it sinks...

Plus, someone has to pay for maintenance - who will this be? Some gratious benefactor?

This plan is full of fail.
