Simple question: Why has Ray Epps not been arrested for inciting the Jan 6 'insurrection?'

So by keeping alive the idea he MIGHT be a FBI operative, without evidence, you also keep alive Tucker Carlson's delusional conspiracy theory that at least partial blame for the riot can be directed at the FBI. Which is exactly the illusion Tucker was trying to create. Why? Because Trump and his mob were responsible.

 

Trump convinced them they needed to fight like hell to keep their country because the election had been stolen from him.........and by extension them. Epps was a duped idiot who believed that and went on to play a minor role in the riot.

 

"I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard."

Trump never encouraged people to breach the Capitol. In fact, he approved the deployment of the National Guard to protect the Capitol long before he even gave his speech. Ray Epps did convince people to breach the Capitol.

 

How do you peacefully make your voices heard while fighting like hell? BTW, there was absolutely nothing patriotic about violently trying to prevent the certification of the duly elected prez.

 

In the same context as a dozen or so Democrats who used similar or more violent language to their constituents. This isn't any different than what Democrat leaders were saying during his time in office.

Strange not to remember if you've spoken with anyone at the FBI about the investigation and prosecution of the President's son. So strange, that it smells like more perjury. I can understand forgetting about a lot of things, but how do you forget about that?

When asked about whether he discussed the matter with Weiss, he said he refuses to answer that question.

 

So.......by applying your standard for perjury Trump perjured himself when he said he could not recall 36 times in response to questions submitted by Mueller?
Has it occurred to you the Repub's purpose in asking questions Garland has, by virtue of DoJ protocol, declined to answer is to get him to decline again. That way they can use his refusal to answer to foster more conspiracy theories like yours. And that my friend is the sum and substance of the Repub's goal. To keep the nothingburger sizzling on the griddle for your entertainment.

I think Trump lied a lot while under oath and while not under oath. The problem is whether or not you can prove those lies, like with Garland. And, even if you could, whether or not the DoJ is willing to investigate and/or prosecute it. I think there's a clear difference in their priorities between Trump and Garland, don't you?

How is it possible that the Attorney General has no clue whether or not there was a single federal agent or asset in the crowd at this stage of the investigation and questioning? It's just not plausible and doesn't pass the sniff test. I think it's a lie that he knows is a low risk of getting caught, but does a large service to protect the institution of DoJ from criticism that he obviously cares a lot about. This is the single largest issue by a mile that he has overseen and been asked questions about from Congress and the press.

And even if he does get caught they won't do anything about it because they protect their own. Tons of officials lied under oath during the Obama administration: Clapper, Brennan, etc. None of them faced consequences, in fact these intelligence officials, who have a mountain of evidence that they perjured themselves, just got tapped by the Biden administration to join an Intel Expert Committee by Biden's DHS. They actually put people who lie under oath in this position.

Their loyal servants get rewarded and not prosecuted. If anything these Garland lies are great for his career long term. He's joined the Boys Club and he'll be protected.

From what I've read on the Internet, Epps was urging the crowd on. Virtually anyone who took a breath close to the Capitol on January 6 has been indicted for something. If Epps was urging the crowd forward, you would think he would be indicted. I'll let those on both sides make their political arguments.
