So show me the point I'm having an art degree or a sociology degree in order to get into law school aside from The hazing ritual.

I have no idea what you are suggesting I need to prove here.

If your field of law is going to involve antiquities, perhaps a degree in art is an absolute necessity. In general, law is only one dimension. And, betting on one dimension is not a great idea. If you're going to be writing articles of incorporation, partnerships, doing mergers and acquisitions, etc., etc. it's a good idea to know something about what the proposed corporations are trying to do. If all you know is the law, clients SHOULD look elsewhere.

If you want to be a teacher, you better know more than pedagogy. If you want to be a politician, you better develop a range of skills. Today, people are finding it important to move between a number of job titles quite rapidly, making it wise to consider greater breadth in your education plan.

The largest reason people get fired by software corporations has to do with skills related to communication, cooperation, and other skills needed to build teams. And, advancement involves a wide variety of skills related to business, customers, etc. Burying ones head in writing code is a limited approach to advancement. Every engineer needs to be spending time outside of work to keep up with advancements and extend knowledge of the business they're in.

I just don't believe you're thinking about education very well.

Of course, I have a hard time imagining not wanting education to be a serious part of my life. Why would I NOT want myself and others to have a better understanding of art, sociology, anthropology, languages, etc.? These things add dimension to our contributions. Those who come up with cool new ideas are usually the ones who have a greater breadth of understanding. And, that is what we need in order to compete in this rapidly changing time. I'll pick that breadth every time, over someone who has managed to eliminate all but one topic.

Liberal indoctrination turns out such as SJW with a Master's in lesbian dance theory. Send your kids to trade school for real world jobs like welding, construction and plumbing. With the goal of owning their own business.

A degree in art is never necessary for anything not even art.

No. wonder Trump loves his base. There are many jobs where a degree in art is necessary. Have you ever been to a museum?

The last thing Trump wants is a population trained to think.

He's in luck then given the present system.

At least they can dribble in a safe space, probably thinking how many they're going to have to say "Would you like fries with that?" before they pay off the student debt.

    Spoiler, it's a lot.

Wow, you know, I've been reading stories about high demand for Museum workers.

    And the pay is awesome.

    https://www1.salary.com/Museum-Research-Worker-Salary.html

Why with $50k in student loans, I would imagine a good museum worker might be able to buy an actual new car by the time they are 45 or so......

I can't agree with this. It doesn't take some innate talent to make it in medicine (dentistry or otherwise), all it takes is self-discipline and a strong focus on performance throughout school years ... fostered and supported by parents. ANYONE can do it, given these two essentials. And ANYONE can achieve those two very accessible things. They cost nothing and do not require genius, or even education on the part of the parents. Same goes for things like Engineering. It's self-discipline and a focus on school that gets you in, and keeps you there.

Except when it's educated people observing just how dumb you'd need to be to think an Arts Degree is for anyone but the mega rich.

You don't have to be a certified pipe welder to be an engineer, but in dentistry you must have good hands to go with smarts.

My dentist is a serious artist in his work. His care with color and design are incredible.

If he decides not to go to medical school, he needs to go to grad school in biochemistry. A minor in religion is a nice fun thing to do, but impractical.

Student loans simply speaking cannot be discharged by bankruptcy. That's all the collateral that's needed.

It can be, but it can also be worse. All depends on the discipline of the parents and children. Most do an ok or good job, but those same kids would, for the most part, do fine in any school setting. Most educators look down on home schoolers, but that's because they only see the unsucessful ones. You don't take your kid from a homeschooled environment to a public school environment unless you failed at homeschooling. Homeschooling is an expensive option, though, unless you assume the homeschooling parent's efforts to be worthless.

True, but on average, someone with a four year degree does better than one without.

In real life, fairly few people major in stupid things. About 20% of all bachelor's degrees are in business fields, about another 12% are in health related fields, 6% engineering, 6% biology/biomed. Only 6% are in social science/history.
