I'm not sure. I thought he stayed up all year, but I could be wrong. Smartie would know. They are saying they will have him up and better than ever next year. Whatever that means. I thought he was pretty cool the way he was. I wonder if there were any services for him.

me mum died this summer, horrible death.
she had a bladder infection, she was 88.
that went septic or something, she got dehydrated and went weird.

i visited her everyday especially the last five years, and took good care of her and watched her..I'm all she had with my wife of course...she wanted her independence, and God love her she managed to do just that.

anyway..took her to hospital after she not responding to her family doctor's meds, they cured her but she got a superbug , hospital acquired pneumonia.

it was a horrible death...literally watched her drown...

i stopped work and stayed with her for 5 weeks...lived practically in the hospital.

In the end God or someone came into her and spoke to my wife and I.

for real...

she was wasted...could not speak more than word or twofor days she lay there with no energy.

two days before dying...
she sat up and looked around and asked"Where did this beautiful church come from. Look at how beautiful it is. "
she went on about it for a bit, wife and i were astonished at her energy.

Then she said "You know , God really doesn't want us to hurt one another. But He understands why we hurt one another.
So when we hurt someone He wants us to asks him for his forgiveness.
And after He forgives us He wants us to forgive ourselves, just like we are supposed to forgive others who hurt us."

Then she said some word neither my wife or i could make out followed by Jesus then an intelligible word, other language?? and then this incredible long prayer/philosophy/wish for mankind/teaching.....

My wife and i were stunned... could not believe this was happening. it was beautiful!

then she stopped and said"This church is not supposed to be here right now..we are not supposed to be in here right now..."
then she fell back to what she was....my wife and i could not recall one word of the prayer...which was me mum's voice but the metre of it was obvious..thats all either of us can say about it..we could not recall one word of the long prayer...

I've struggled with God , I try to Know God...don't really get it...but now have put my trust in God, bought a celtic cross...exactly like my avatar..and say the Lord's prayer daily...

I also know me mum is around....i talk to her daily....cannot get the last few horror days out of my mind, although less and less each day...it's like a scab you keep picking....

on her death bed we prayed together, she liked the lord's prayer, and Hail Mary....she also made up her own prayers and i would do them with her.


first time i wrote this anywhere...thanks to those who read it.

Hi everyone down here in Smarties Place!

 

I'm so sorry to hear you lost your mother, Doc. Your story is so similar to mine, I can definitely relate to what you're going thru and my heart breaks for you. My mom was also 88 and although she was legally blind, she was in good health otherwise... until Christmas when she hosted the entire family at her house, but complained about pain from a bladder infection. My s-i-l gave her a pain pill she had... and although mom rarely took meds, she took that one and felt so much better, we all had a great time. She turned 89 on Jan 4 and went into the hospital for the first time a week later. She died on March 13th and we buried her on St. Patrick's Day, 2004. I visit her grave often and always make sure she has beautiful flowers that go with the seasons. (Poinsettias in Aug were one of her pet peeves. LOL)

Although I didn't experience anything like what you & you wife witnessed... when we left the hospital after she died, I was walking across the parking lot and suddenly felt her presence right there with me. That's when I knew she was OK and I just had to get thru the loss. Your mom's OK, too, sweetie. Thank God for her long, independent life. We should all be so lucky to live to 88.

Whaddaya want from me... Big Lady Tex who looks like Michelle Obama or what??? ROFLMAO Could happen. His memorial service was held by a black funeral home. The late Big Tex was race-less.

BTW, he was taken down every year and put back up for the fair.

Spent my day off spending money. It's a vicious cycle. Make it, spend it, make it, spend it. I'll be glad when my gubmit checks start comin in. I've decided if ya can't beat 'em... join 'em. My grandkids can worry about it later... I did all I could. The next sound you hear will be me, crawling on the bandwagon.

Low fat BBQ sauce is going a bit too far, almost offensive in my opinion.

there's just some foods you don't mess with and BBQ sauce is one of em. it has to be high fat and sugary to make the pork ribs taste good.

On the news they insulted some victims of sandy saying they won't have their power on until Thanksgiving, horrible but a little funny.

We just got quoted on some standby generators their expensive, the gas powered ones aren't practical when the gas lines are like they are in those places, and Government started rationing already.

Hope FEMA reimburses us with taxpayer money though, apparently you need a doctors note for the gas powered generators. I'm feeling a little sick, be back later.

 

Low fat bbq sauce, what the bloody ell does she think she is trying to do. Well out here in the wild west we like our sauce to have some snap, crackle and pop to it. Folks out here will tell her to kiss their bloody arse cause the obamas aren't really liked out her any ways
