    Good morning bar peeps and lookie loos.

    What a weekend! Drank like a Scotswoman at the Olympics on Saturday night. Swam, well sat, naked in the small pool. It was so hot and no lights on so I went for it. Im modest by nature as you all know by now. No really, I am. lol Im in the pool and getting ready to get out and...the neighbors flood light went on. Its on a timer with a motion sensor. So now Im trying to grab my towel and my beer and time the (*)(*)(*)(*) thing. The house was totally dark so I figured no one was home. Still dont know if my neighbor was home or not but, Hello! lol

    'mornin and welcome to another Moanday. Went thru 3 credit cards in the parking lot before I found one the darn machine would take. Lady behind me sez, "Honey, you have to put it in a jiggle it around a lil." Not that I haven't been parking in that same lot and using that same ticket machine for 7 years. Grrrrrrr, finally found one it liked. It's gonna get better from there... starting here!

    Picked pool bird?

    Is that one of those southern things?

    You know what it reminded me off? You know when you go to a carnival and they have those yellow ducks floating and you pluck one out and if you get a certain number (thats never there) you win a huge prize (that they never give away). LOL

    How you doing, Smokester? Did you have a good weekend?

    Hi!

    lol, yes, Southern I suppose. Picked bird, one with feathers removed, picked off, plucked nekked. ... in the pool.

    No offense, was just being goofy.

    Good weekend here, thanks. Sounds as though yours was too. Hope your fracture is healing quickly. ;)

    *hug*

    Your welcome sweetie. Now today I am going to try to make something very different. This comes from the country of Moldova in Europe.

    Sweet Easter Bread (Pasca)
    This recipe is half of the original recipe I kind of modified certain parts of the recipe, like when it said to knead the dough for 45 minutes. I kneaded it for probably 15 minutes and it turned out just fine, but I’ve included the original recipe as written below for humor value.
    8 c flour
    1/2 c sour cream
    1/4 c melted butter
    2 tbsp melted margarine
    1 packet yeast
    3/4 c warm milk
    4 eggs
    1 cup sugar
    1.5 tbsp oil
    1 tsp vanilla
    1 tsp cinnamon
    1/2 tsp lemon juice
    Raisins and chocolate chips
    1/4 to 1/2 cup oil in a small bowl
    Combine yeast with half the warm milk (no need to be too precise). Sprinkle in a little flour and 1 tbsp sugar. Mix well. Let rise in a warm place (20-30 minutes).
    Beat eggs together with sugar and vanilla. Beat ten minutes with mixer, or 30 minutes by hand (Hang on. Can you imagine beating something for 30 minutes by hand? My arm would fall off!) until it becomes a thick mixture. Mix in cinnamon and lemon. In a large bowl, mix together 6 cups of flour, sour cream, butter, margarine, egg mixture, oil, the yeast mixture and the rest of the warm milk. Knead until the dough comes together, about 5-6 minutes. Place in a very warm place and leg rise 7-8 minutes.
    Next, knead dough while adding the remaining flour until it becomes tough. Then, dipping your hands in the bowl of oil from time to time, knead the oil into the dough. You kneading is finished when you see little air bubbles in the dough. Be patient, this takes about 45 minutes and lots of muscle.
    Put dough back in bowl and place bowl in a very warm place. Wrap the bowl in lots of towels to keep in the heat. Let rise 2 hours. Knead raisins or chocolate chips into dough.
    Put dough in butter baking tins (any shape). Only fill dough 1/3 of the way up the side of the pan. Let the dough rise in the baking pans uncovered for about 1 hour. Brush top of bread with an egg white/sugar mixture. Place in a very hot oven (about 450 degrees) and bake for 10 minutes. The lower the temperature to the lowest setting (about 350 degrees– the ovens you find in most Moldovan villages don’t have temperature settings in degrees; it’s just “high” and “low.”) and bake for another 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown.

    LOL oh I get it now. I had no idea. Ive never heard the expression.

    Yeah my leg is getting better. It was odd. I was gonna buy a boot but had those sticky ace bandages. I ace bandaged it and had it on for a day and night and when I took it off I could not walk at all on it. I figured it made it worse. That night I went to sleep with the air conditioner on 60 all night and my foot hanging out of the covers. I couldnt even let it touch my foot. I woke up with an ice cold foot and leg and hardly no pain. I mean it was sore but not even close to that searing broken feeling. I figured I need cold. Have ice on it on and off since and not wrapped and its way better. Im thinking now maybe a ligament or something but Ive damaged ligaments in my shoulder before and the pain was different. I couldnt lift my arm and actually did go to the walk in for that one.

    Here's how that one went.
    I cant lift my arm. I couldnt for a week. Im paying cash. Dont blow this bill out.
    I understand. Can you pick your arm up with your other hand and hold it there without assistance?
    I dont know. Let me try. Like this?
    Yes now hold it up on its own.
    Like this?
    Yes.
    You did not tear your rotor cuff. It will be fine after a while. Ice it and take this prescription I am going to give you.
    Thank you
    Take this to the front desk.
    Ok and thanks a lot. I appreciate it.
    You're welcome.

    Hello let me see. You're paying cash?
    Yes
    That will be $350
    Ok

    Get home
    See I told you I shouldnt go to these (*)(*)(*)(*) doctors. $350 for me to hold my own arm up like "oh I know the answer to that question. Pick me" and I'm gonna be fine.

    You learn after you fly 20' off the back of a bike and 5 days in the hospital that the body is an amazing healing machine. I got good genes.

    Absolutely. I can empathize.

    I'm glad to read that you're on the mend. I know it's no fun, but pace yourself, please don't risk further injury. ;)

    For the rotor cuff thing, I've blown mine out on a few different occasions. As dumb as it may sound (and as sometimes painful as it is), I learned to simply grit my teeth and try to work through it. Obviously not to extreme and damage it more, but (IMO) exercising it will help it heal more quickly. I have taken surgical cord, long enough to reach from waist to floor, tied loop in each end, toes through one end hand in other, and do a curling/lifting motion with my arm.

    Uncomfortable? Hell yeah!! But it works better than babying it and leaving it immobile (unlike a bone fracture).

    My latest is dealing with an injured achilles tendon for the past three weeks or so. Much better, but a very slow recovery injury. *sigh*

    ~~~~~~~
    About the "picked bird" remark, I assume that may come from days when folks prepared yard chickens for cooking. Having to pick or pluck the feathers.
    Funny, I tried it once, was a pain in the butt... so, I said to hell with this, and I skinned it. (*)(*)(*)(*) thing was so tough after baking, it was barely edible.
    Note... the skin left on, keeps it moist and tender. (and all that fat creates a bigger fire!!) hahahahaha
    I'm taking it real slow. I'm holding of walking again for a little while because I dont want to aggravate it. This leg been bothering me for probably a month now and flipped me out when it started to get worse instead of better. That never happens. Now its getting better quickly. About time! lol
    After my arm healed the only noticable difference is if I go to throw something far or hard its sends me that..dont do that again please, signal. lol
    How did you hurt your achilles tendon?
    You killed a...chicken?
    *rolls eyes**
    WTHever!
    Big ole 3" thick photo album hanging from a plastic coast hanger (that should have already been thrown away), on a cabinet knob no less. Dam thing pulls the knob off, knocks stuff off the counter, flinging flour all over hell and creation.......
    ... look like a Sat night meeting at a Pentecostal church!
    Good for you. Yes, again, I know that sharp little pain. That will eventually go away. ;)
    I'm confident I initially did it lifting heavy on my toes, working on calves. I stand on one foot and lift, then extend further onto my tip toes. Weird, I can't explain it. Anyway, have further aggravated it running fairly steep incline.
    It'll be fine, I'm working through it.
