It's going to be a looooooong season for us Colts fans I fear. :(

Congrats to the Cowboys and the Jets. Woo! Here's hoping you can stop the juggernaut that the Patriots are likely to become.

I was getting worried about Foolie, Smartie, hadn't seen him in awhile.

Glad Texas finally got some rain, and glad everyone had a good weekend.

Not glad it's Monday again. Boo hisss!!!! *slams some whiskey*

Hiya Mary!! Awwww, foolie doesn't like us anymore. At least he doesn't like ME anymore. Not sure why... guess he's got more friends than he needs. His choice.

One gal said this morning she was gonna have to start doublin up on her blood pressure medicine if the 'boys keep this up. Could stroke out during one of these close games!! :omg:

Rain was great...except the whole block lost power on Fri nite and had to sit in the dark for 3-1/2 hrs. Not fun, but at least it was cool in the rain!

Morning, OT! Nope, you can still keep that 30 degree weather for now. I'm just fine with the temps we have.

Hey, this is great weather here at 30 degrees. All we wear now is a light jacket. Remember that up here in the mountains -20 below is nothing new and I have seen 38 below here. Now that's getting to be a little to cold.

    Good mornin' everybody! :)

A wonderful weekend for me! Finally finished painting the upstairs bedroom that I use as my "man cave". I'm not really thrilled about the color my wife picked out, she calls it "Olive Green" - to me it looks like Army green. Oh well, I guess it's better than Battleship Grey! :D

Went to a church barbecue this weekend, and impressed the congregation with how well this Yankee can grill! Cooked some salsiccia (Italian sausage) on the grill, then when they were almost done, I put them in a mixture of vegetable broth, tomato paste, onions, garlic, Roma tomatoes, bell peppers, and Anaheim peppers that I had simmering on the edge of the grill. I let the salsiccia stew in the mix for half-hour or so, and served them up - put one on a bun, and scoop a little of the vegetables on top.

Little old ladies who had never had these before were complimenting me on how tasty and juicy they were - and I think they meant it because several of them asked for my recipe!

Next time I think I'll grill genuine St. Louis-style barbecued pork steaks - except I'll have to find something to substitute for beer... I don't want to offend the Baptists! :D

You'd be mighty busy, commuting from AR to MS, Mary. Better take your vitamins.

When I was in my teens, Dad owned a restaurant, and I was the dishwasher - a job that I hated with an all-encompassing passion! I soon figured out that the only way I'd ever get out of dishwashing was to learn to do something else. I didn't want to wait tables, so... I learned to cook, and I've enjoyed it ever since.

The sausage stew is nothing new, it's just a way to keep the salsiccia from drying out and becoming hard and chewy on the grill. If I was going to grill hamburgers for an outdoor picnic - work, church, Cub Scouts, etc. - and I was using pre-made burger patties, I'd probably put them in something like beef broth, with maybe a little Liquid Smoke or some BBQ sauce, maybe add in an onion or two.

Actually, it's probably just a variation on the St. Louis-style grilled pork steaks recipe - cook them almost all the way, then put them in a pan with BBQ sauce and beer, and let them simmer until the meat is almost falling apart. The pork soaks up the BBQ sauce, and the liquid makes them stay nice and tender.

Tonight is going to be interesting - I persuaded my wife to cook a beef roast, and I'm making cornbread muffins. But... instead of adding green chili peppers or jalapeno peppers, I bought a couple of serrano peppers to add to the muffin mix. I'm afraid the serrano peppers might be too hot, we shall see...

If the family goes runnin' out of the kitchen screaming like Godzilla, then I'll know it wasn't a good idea! :D

For regularly cooked meals like that, I might be willing to try it! ;-)
