Here are some stats on minimum wage jobs. Google isn't tough to use.

Your post is full of opinions, poor opinions but opinions, and devoid of facts. I realize you prefer the slavery of the dole but I didn't and wouldn't.

The study you sent me seemed to have some merit. But I checked another one, here from UC Santa Barbara University in California. It sums up the studies on minimum wage and says that the impact is either non-existent or negligible. http://www.history.ucsb.edu/projects/labor/documents/Luce_CryWolfminimumwagesNov5.pdf.

I would say they are real jobs....especially since Obama said yesterday that food stamps were an economic stimulus.

It is very doable in the US. I'm noticing other people saying it isn't. But I think that might be based on the opinions of suburbanites who may feel you aren't really living if you don't have a whole house to yourself, a yard that immigrants mow for you, prepared packaged meals and salads that cost as much as going out to eat, and an Iphone for everyone in the family.

From my experiences with minimum wage in Iowa, what you make is more than enough to cover a nice trailer home, basic health insurance, saving for retiring in said trailer park, food (the kind of food you actually have to cook), and a used car.

It gets hard if you're trying to raise a large family on a single income. However:

    A. If you're on minimum wage, maybe you shouldn't have a large family.
    B. The government will poney up the cash if you do choose to go that route.

Also when I was in grad school in Philly most of my friends were living on minimum salary wages (because that's what you make as a grad student). In Philly minimum wage puts you in either a tiny apartment near the universities or a townhouse in one of the shadier spots. Most elected for the tiny apartment. In either case, you're again getting by just fine unless you start having a bunch of kids. And again, if you do have the kids the government steps in.

In both cases the biggest problems weren't the living conditions, but the neighbors. As far as material comforts go, there isn't anything wrong with an Iowa trailer park, or Philly townhouse.

It was interesting looking for homes in Maryland. Neighborhoods in suburbia often have exactly the same houses. There were some basic plans, and people built all over using them. General layouts and placement of commercial buildings, schools, and the like are roughly identical as well. But prices for neighborhoods are all over the place. As far as I can tell, and it sounds like this really is the thinking from talking to others, what you're paying for is your neighbors, specifically that they can afford a more expensive house.

And I'm afraid that's worth every penny.

Our "problems" stem from a government, that plays favoritism for a few mega corporate entities (cronyism), in this plutocracy created by the best government corporate money can buy.

Republicans have nothing but bad ideas and democrats have no ideas, just like they are paid to do, I'm not exactly sure what your point is other than trying to mislabel me, and I am neither in charge nor do I make these decisions my dear. Our government is corrupt and on the take for the rich/elites they serve. Bush was no different than Obummer inthis aspect, and Perry/bachman/Romney or any other of the republican clowns will be any different either.

I really wanted to see where he wa getting the info, but that's OK if he doesn't want to confide. I use Google very well thank you, unfortunately it is full of idiotic lies, moronic statistics, and talking points from one extreme corporate owned party or the other, no different than your rant on pg 1.

Nothing I said was not true. Please point out anything that was not based on the reality of the situation.

Idiotic statements like this do nothing to change the current trend, just perpetuates more ignorance. I've had a job since I was 12 (shoveled horse manure and cleaned horse stalls in the evening after sports, and delivered papers in the morning) both of those jobs paid higher than minimum wage. In fact the only job I had that paid minimum wage was at an A/W Root Beer stand, that lasted 3 days and I got a $.35 raise. 30 days later I was making a dollar over minimum, which is exactly what I was talking about in the other post. Those days are gone, getting an honest days pay for an honest days work is a thing of the past, and our economy is a result of this stupidity. Which is why we have so many people dependent on the government and the most of them have jobs that do not pay realistic wages for the cost of living in this county.

My parents and my grandparents both instilled good work ethics in all of us kids at an early age.
