Well, that's why you're in trouble, anyway.

This should have happened back in 2018 but Trump being Trump mitigated the losses the Democrats would have otherwise suffered. 2020 was coming off the cusp of a Republican Trump administration which gives field advantage to the opposing party, and of course it was Trump running again, so the Democrats escaped a beating in that election. 2022 was Roe V Wade and fresh memories of Trump's riot of stupidity and attempt to steal an election which saved the Democrats that time.

There was nothing to really save the Democrats this time. This was at the cusp of a Democratic administration giving field advantage to the Republicans, and the last four years have been chock full of progressive nonsense for Republicans to highlight. The Democrats chose Kamala Harris to replace Joe Biden(which needed doing, just not with her), a candidate not even the Democrats wanted to be president four years ago.

So this is a learning opportunity for the Democratic party and whether they want to keep doubling down on stupid progressive bullshit. We already have one cult of personality in MAGA, and the Democrats will never be able to recreate that same kind of appeal because MAGA is disguised as patriotism and traditionalism. Progressive nonsense is far harder to disguise than whatever the MAGA agenda is, which is nothing more fleshed out than whatever Trump's mood is on whatever day you ask them what they want.

Essentially, the Democrats have to stop trying to beat Trump by being Trump. I don't know if it's a lack of imagination or a lack of leadership or a lack of common sense, but they don't seem to want to carve out a niche for themselves that appeals to anybody beyond immature children and virtue signalers. If that is who the Democrats want to be, they will continue to lose elections even after MAGA has run it's course.

fear mongering politics and the bullshit narrative that he handled covid poorly are what cost him the 2020 election. fear mongering politics and scary labels have finally lost their weight.

democrats are going to have to run on policy. good policy. policy like open border "path to citizenship" where it directly is the cause of humanitarian crisis in several states? that helped make New Jersey a purple state. That's a piss poor policy. One you should have seen coming.

unrealized capital gains tax? is a ****ing STUPID policy to run on.

Add in minor stupid **** like parental rights, crt, equity, women in sports...and you got yourself a platform with nothing but divisive identity politics and nonsense.

In its most simplest terms, MAGA puts americans first. You could describe it as anti identity politics, more of a trickle down economics. Tighter border security. heavy handed foreign politics with a focus in trade that favors America. He believes in a strong working class economy where people can work and spend. Less regulation, less taxes...energy independence. And more importantly, a return to national pride.

Oh this is nothing new with me, even explicitly on this forum, but you probably don’t even understand it. Not out of stupidity, just it’s not a simple or fleshed out position in the most recent post. More fleshed out was when I talked about technocracy.

Our best hope is that Trump doesn’t actually enact his immigration and tariff policies he’s promised, because those moves would make inflation, and my portfolio, much worse off. For now he’s at least a benefit for stocks, likely they think he won’t (successfully) do those things but are pleased by lower taxes and regs.

It is pathetically clear Trump won’t return us to low prices with protectionism and getting rid of cheap labor.

Definitely drop the identity politics crap. That should have been gone a decade ago. Also drop the war mongering. The Democrats under Biden have become the party of war.

But, there is no need to abandon progressive economic and social policy. Bernie Sanders could have beaten Trump in 2016, and he still could today.

Right now, the House appears to remain under Republican control:

Link: (2) House and Senate live updates: Who's winning, ballot updates, race calls, results | AP News

    Republicans -- 206
    Democrats -- 193

EVERYTHING hinges on this! If the 'Crats take over the House, they will exert control over nearly everything that Trump even tries do to -- AND -- (rely on this if nothing else) they'll start crafting their next Articles of Impeachment as soon as possible! Remember, they don't need to have any valid reasons to do that, and in fact neither of the Articles of Impeachment they used on Trump before even had any actual CRIMES listed in them at all.

All in all, it would be a miserable agony of gridlock, deadlock, and being 'stuck in the mud' if the 'Crats take the House!

They can't impeach, strike lawfare, pack the court, ease voting requirements so they are going to have to dig deep in their empty minds on how to get rid of Trump, which other than inflation and open borders has been their singular focus for 8 years now.

Since I am not a democrat, perhaps your gloating should be directed elsewhere, but so far as I know nobody has come anywhere close to the approval rating W had at his peak--well into the 90's--so your "most popular president in history" has the scent of straw about it.

You people spent four years running on nothing but "orange man bad" and insulting half the country calling them racist, misogynist, Nazis. Turns out that doesn't work too well at the polls.

Will Democrats learn their lesson and not insult half the country next time? I doubt it....

From what I have seen so far: do the opposite of Trump and his followers and try to take this question seriously instead of acting like children. Which is a big step up.

That's not where people are getting their news now. Democrats don't come close to matching the right-wing echo chamber in Twitter, Rumble, YouTube, Rogan podcasts, Bongino, etc.

Great examples! Let's see what we're working with here.
Twitter - up until very recently a left wing echo chamber with extreme censorship of anything Republican, now a free speech platform for ALL VOICES thanks to Elon the magnificent
Youtube - Youtube is for everyone, lots of political voices of all affiliations on there
    Rogan - Dude,that's one person

is this really the best you can come up with?

Twitter wsa NOT a left wing echo chamber. The only thing that was censored was misleading Covid crap that has nothing to do with politics until Republicans made it about politcs.
Youtube/Rogan/Rumble/Bongino, etc- you look at ANY right-wing program or post and they overwhelmingly have higher viewership/likes of anything on the left. Nothing comes close.

I've never heard of this rumble.
lets see, Left has dominance over every late night talk show Except ONE and dominance over the MSM except ONE network (the same network with that one talking point)
Do you really think the right has a more prominent media presence than the left? I mean if you do then you do but that isn't how I see it.

Rogan has 14+ million on Spotify alone. That doesn't count subscribers on YouTube, Rumble, etc. Colbert doesn't even have 3 million views on a medium (TV) that nobody watches anymore. The right-wing propaganda machine dwarfs anything out from the left. Admit it and be proud of it. I would.

People are often voting against the other guys not for who they actually cast their ballot.

I personally voted for Stein. Maybe if enough people start voting third party, the big guys will start taking notice and at least try to clean up their own houses a little.
