Our entire system needs some severe reworking imo. Everything seems to be broken, being stolen from or not working as intended. We need tax reform across the board.

You can't give tax breaks to those who don't pay any. I thought this horse had already been beaten to death last year. You're starting to come across as one of those "universal income" supporters.
    (wink)

Social security is broken...........but what's the solution? Let everyone provide for their own retirement with that money in their pockets? We all know how will work out. Iphones, 60 inch TVs, a new vehicle every other year..............:deadhorse:

If we didnt invest in our military the countries you named would have to spend more on theirs

But they could never spend enough to protect them from the russians during the Cold War or the chinese today

It's a different world. You think Russia or China is looking to invade and conquer other countries?

Mac I usually agree with you, but the way the rest of the world treats the US, I'm trying to find two ****s to give. They need a new sugar daddy. We simply can't afford it. The world has significantly changed in the last 30 years too.

I referenced russia during the Cold War

Chinais hoping to become so powerful economically and militarily and powerful politically that they can get the control over other nations without invading them

yeah and about 4% too much. every dollar we spend in the mid east is wasted, except for keeping one carrier group in the gulf. Have all european countries, Taiwan, and japan contribute to the cost of the fleet being there or just keep some small craft and a couple of destroyers there. Let the aussies guard the straight of Malacca, The brits Gibraltar, the French, Turks and the italians the Dardanelles, and The Germans the north sea. Then mind our own business and not waste 6 trill more in the sand.

So then no need for US to spend as much money on military to protect other nations. Cool.

Well um..............how much do we already "kick up" to big Red Momma? :roflol: The left whines when Trump tries to level the playing field with them. The military isn't the fix for that.

The idea is to give smaller nations hope of resisting the chinese menace

The US is the only cpuntry standing in the way of chinese world domination

I don’t support universal income but I do support a healthy social system that eliminates abusers. People should not be given “free stuff” but necessities should not be so far from reach that people ignore simple issues until it is a large issue. Social security should be made into a private account type system that the owner of can borrow from at a low interest rate and will go to their heirs should they pass before receiving benefits.

And again..........bombs and missiles won't fix that. It will happen without firing a shot.

If you are saying that our military advantage depends on maintaining our economic advantage I fully agree

We cant have one without the other

I like the idea. But it will have to be mandatory. The problem then is with what's already in the pipeline. You think our dysfunctional congress (little c) is capable of doing that?

China will exert economic pressure backed up my the military when necessary

But mostly they get what they want by twisting arms

And it will only get worse the more powerful they become

Which you said they would do without invading. So again, no need to spend as much as we do on military as we don't need to continue being the worlds police.

China is not above using force if they have to

If no one has the military power to resist them they wont even have to play the economy card

Who's saying no one will have the military power to resist them? I never said we should cut military spending to the level of a single A ball club. We can still have a powerful military and NOT be the world's police.

I'm all for bringing our troops home.

I'm just pointing out the even with us currently in the middle east, we are still spending far less on that than we are spending on social programs.

In this game there is no 2nd place

For all the lies and hateful rhetoric spread about America we are the most benign superpower in hisory

And that includes the fact we arent perfect and sometimes misuse our power

But if the positions of the US and china are swapped the world will regret it for 1000 years

Which is still less than half of what we spend on social programs.

I agree that we need to abolish a ton of federal agencies and reduce the size of government.

    Here's my short list...
    • Abolish DHS.
    • Abolish BATF.
    • Abolish the department of education.
    • Abolish the department of energy.
    • Abolish the EPA.
    • Repeal ObamaCare.
    • Privatize Social Security.
    • Means test welfare.
    • Abolish birthright citizenship.
    • Abolish chain migration.
    • etc.
