Trump had ample opportunities for over a year to return the documents he took and refused to do so.
Had he, he also wouldn't have been charged.

James indicted Trump in Sept. 2022 after a very long and laborious investigation.
Jack Smith picked up where the J6 left off.
It was Trump who thought when he announced his run in Nov 2022 that he was untouchable, yet had he listened to Merrick Garland he would have known not so.

WASHINGTON — The special counsel appointed to investigate Joe Biden’s handling of classified documents has interviewed the president’s son Hunter Biden, according to a source familiar with the matter.

Special counsel Robert Hur reached out to Hunter Biden’s legal team for an interview about two months ago, a second source familiar with the matter said.

Spokespeople for Hur and the Justice Department declined requests for comment, as did the White House. A lawyer for Hunter Biden did not immediately respond to a request for comment Thursday. The Wall Street Journal first reported the interview.

The White House last month said the president was interviewed Oct. 8-9 as part of the documents investigation after months of negotiations between Biden and Hur over the terms of an interview. The probe was initiated after the White House said in January that documents with classified markings were uncovered at Biden’s Delaware home and at a Washington office he used after he was vice president.

You have to show that he WILFULLY RETAINED them…in other words, once he had discovered they were in his possession, he made a conscious effort to keep them…!

He did not. They were turned over when discovered. They weren’t hidden on a bathroom after being given a subpoena.
