So here's your argument. Current liberal thought is completely insane. And you have provided quite a few reasons for this.
-Too much social spending
-Giving illegal immigrants the same rights as citizens at the "expense of the citizens"
-Supported groups that want to destroy the fabric of the U.S (Socialists, Communists, and Anarchists)
-"They have supported the "leadership" who wants to nationalize oil and energy while supporting the destruction of the same." Huh?
-They support giving Muslims rights, even if it impedes on the rights of Christians
-Push pseudoscience to be adopted as public policy (global warming)
-Use racism as a way to raise money
-Destroyed self-reliant principles
-Anti-capitalist

Then you assume all of these are qualities of an insane political ideology. And since, according to your argument, liberals favor all of these policies, they are in fact insane.

If I have outlined your argument incorrectly, I apologize. Now, in order for a rational person to accept your conclusion that liberal thinking is insane, I need to know what evidence you are using for these reasons. Only then can I determine whether or not I should agree with your conclusion or not.

We have so many social programs because society in one way or another failed to properly help the group in need, and the government had to step in and help.

I'm quite careful with my terminolgy and what I'm descibing are today's liberals and yes, they are progressives.

 

No, they didn't "have to", they chose to. In some cases it was needed and timely. However, liberal education, media and government have done society no favor by distorting & expanded the classification of "need" to an extent where today "fairness", instead of "need", is basically used as the bar to which government "must act".

 

I am not a liberal yet I am not a right wing nut as well. this mess the world is in is hugely at the feet of Big banks, Wall street and the FED. they rigged the system, killed all oversight, crowed they could "police themselves". and ruined the economies of the world. they got bailed out trillions on our backs.
they control through lobbyists how to gerrymander any bill to benefit their sponsors. Millions have lost homes, retirements, investments, and jobs because of the unregulated craven greed when the monied class were allowed to behave as Barbary pirates.

Those craven enough to create this mess now want to blame "the people' for the govt spending what it does not have. bending laws for the monied at the expense of the nation and then crow we are the 1%.
The left had their hands in this with the mindless Freddie and Fannie and how many in the Senate and on Obama's own staff personally profited, yet "we the people" are suffering. there is a group in the elite banking and fed and Wall street who are Above the law and twist it to support themselves at the expense of us all.
