"Oh dear" oil prices are directly effected by speculative investment, and REDUCED DEMAND, due to HIGHER PRICES of gasoline...duh...

To pretend that inflation is not occurring, requires the kind of "silliness" that would pretend that the US having its credit rating downgraded FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ITS HISTORY is "not a bad thing".

Money will cost more, for EVERYONE; every person seeking a mortgage, or credit for anything will pay more for the same amount of credit.

Don't Leftninnies understand this? Never in HISTORY has America's credit rating been DOWNGRADED; that will be part of the PERMANENT RECORD of the Obama/Dem reign in DC.

The Tea Party will continue rewriting that history, next year, with the unwilling help of all of the "tea-baggees" constant denial of reality.

We have measures of inflation, and they do say we do have inflation, as we almost always do(the only exception being in 2008-2009, when the collapse of housing prices actually led to some deflation). However the levels of inflation we have are low, and don't matter.

As far as our credit rating never being downgraded, it still hasn't been(despite the best efforts of right wingers over the last few weeks). So what point are you trying to make?

PS. I guarantee our credit rating will not be reduced. How much do you want to bet?

The S & P has ALREADY downgraded our rating with them. What exactly are you referring to...or should I ask "whom" exactly?

Yeah, only now at the end do you understand. Commodities go up and down due to all sorts of factors. Stupid to use them to measure inflation.

So why are you doing that again?

Aparrently you haven't seen the news yet, or you are completely in LaLa land. S&P downgraded us to AA+ from AAA. What about that do you not get?

Guaranteed by the full faith and credit of the US. But faith fading fast. Like those folks on the Titanic fantail right before the final plunge.

Honestly, nobody truly knows yet. S&P is just one of the three credit rating companies and the other two companies don't plan on downgrading our level anytime in the immediate future.

EDIT: Too be honest, I don't think much will come of this. However, this is a wake up call for Congress to get their (*)(*)(*)(*) together.

Credit is not a commodity, and higher interest rates will contribute to higher prices across the board. Grocery prices are the FIRST LINE indicator of inflation.

Go shopping; it is already happening.

The downgrading of our national credit rating is not a "postive event" as you apparently want to pretend...and it will likely have far -reaching negative consequences.

The run on t-bills HIGHLIGHTS the lack of confidence in the economy; why everyone needs to keep repeating that to you is evidence of reading comprehension, or lack of economic understanding.
Investors aren't looking for LOW YIELD, LOW RISK investments, unless they have NO CONFIDENCE in the overall economy, which is the fact of the matter now, because of crippling debt.
It's debt that we cannot TAX OUR WAY OUT OF; BIG CUTS IN SPENDING are what must be done, and hasn't been= national credit downgrade.

ROFLOL, are you F***ing kidding me! EVERY ONE of the last 3 increases in the debt limit that Obama did totaled MORE than ALL 18 of Reagan's increases (it was 18, not 20). Additionally, by the time Reagan left office, he DOUBLED tax receipts from a half trillion to OVER a Trillion, with a Budget deficit of less than 16% (155Bn).
    http://www.whitehouse.gov/omb/budget/Historicals/
Reagan brought the Government to a halt SEVERAL times, because he never had Republican Majorities in both houses, and he fought tooth and nail to lower government spending. If the Democrats had their way during his presidency the budget deficit would have been triple what it ended up being. So what did he do? He vetoed spending bills he deemed excessive. He didn't concern himself with things like shutting down the government because he knew that there was enough revenue to pay for all the things that needed to get paid, and the only things that wouldn't get paid was all the Pork Barrel projects that Congress had running at the time. JUST LIKE TODAY.

Compare this to Obama's spending record. He just was approved to spend an ADDITIONAL 2.5Trillion more, 2.5X Reagan's ENTIRE budget! Additionally, Bush had up to doubled Reagan's Deficit, but Obama's deficit is FIVE TIMES Bush's deficit! A Record 1.6 TRILLION, that's more than 10X Reagan's deficit!

How in your mind Reagan or Bush could have been a more proliferate spender than Obama is anybody's guess, but I'd guess that you don't bother with things like "The Facts", and just look at what the nearest Conservative Hating pundit is saying and simply parrot that.

Regardless, usually SOMEONE tries to step up to the plate and take a swing, once I hit em' over the head a few times with facts they can't dispute, they usually slink away looking for easier targets.

The thread is idiotic and this is more about the looming EU crisis than anything else. Only a rabid, drooling anti Tea Party zombie would find a way to claim this says anything about the Tea Party. It's a laugh.

    Quoted for truth... nice post.

If you listen to the leftists, they will tell you the TEA Party is about:
    • anti-abortion
    • anti-gay
    • racism
    • defense spending

... basically everything they like to demonize and nothing that the TEA party is actually about.

Let's review for the lefties once again. The TEA Party is about 2 things only.

    1. Fiscal Responsibility - Tax Reform - Spending Reform
    2. Constitutionality - Stopping the Federal Government from going outside of their constitutional realm of power

I hope that helps you lefties...
