I spoke with a long-time friend and business associate yesterday. We aren't close, but have known each other for years. We have never talked politics. I have assumed she is liberal by a few offhand comments in the past, but I have always remained non-committal. I don't have to talk politics all the time and with everyone. This person informed me that she doesn't want Trump supporters in her life. Came completely out of left field, and I am unsure if she "suspects me" or what. I see this all the time, even though Trump is out of office and pretty much gone. So what sad thing is really going on here? Conservatives joke about Trump Derangement Syndrome, at least I thought it was a joke. I recently heard that some psychiatrists are actually diagnosing it like a real illness! So, has Trump really caused these folks to lose control of their minds? It is certainly seeming like madness, and clearly it is robbing them of the ability to be happy, even in view of their recent wins.
You're not close to her. Forget about it. She said something that got into your head. What does that mean?
No doubt some on the Left don't acting rationally when it comes to Trump supporters. My brother is a huge Trump supporter and hates anything and everything liberal and wants nothing to do with liberals. He's even wished death on liberals. Point being it seems there are unhinged people on both sides of the aisle. I wouldn't pay too much attention to what this friend/business associate thinks since you're not close friends. Who knows...maybe she was exaggerating for effect.
I can tell you what it is. It's the fear that a proven criminal like Trump might go free. Think about it. It's horrendous to think that there could be people in this country who so repeatedly and publicly break the law and receive no punishment. It would mean that we are no longer a nation of laws. How can the very thought that that is even possible not be upsetting to you?
I don't want Trump supporters in my life because they support someone who took my rights away. Simple as that.
And in addition to that, why do people of color want to come here in droves? Do they do that in other nations where people of color exclusively run the government? How 'bout sending a boatload to Communist China?
I fail to understand that because you are confused about your gender, that entitles you to be viewed by others in a way you imagine.
Hmm.. So Hillary, Joe, et al? Is that what your'e referring to as folks who commit crimes and get away with them? Like those folks?? I mean, you even link recidivism to your own standard... The horror for having these folks lead your party... And speaking of breaking laws, aren't you always here defending things like sanctuary cities? ANTIFA? all this things? Weren't you in support of dropping punishment for everyday crime? Did you think to look into a mirror as you wrote this?
I know, you do fail to understand. Thanks for proving my point about my rights. It's pretty easy to say a person doesn't have rights if you argue they aren't worthy of them.
No....you don't understand the rights of people to not view you in a way you imagine. Did your DNA change? That is what defines you. If your imagination defies that then you make the concession.....don't expect others to.
That would be the fault of the conservatives for not being smart enough to teach schools, run government, make Hollywood movies, or run Big Tech ... duh.
I do appreciate your willingness to reveal how you look down on those your party claims to value. Most Dems try to hide their condescension for those that grow your food or have to wash dishes. Here you are parading it.
When politics first began to get so heated, I decided not to talk politics with friends who I know disagree with me and/or whose minds could never be changed (which is about everybody these days). I mean, what mileage is there to argue with people and then both go away mad. This has worked well with some of my liberal friends and allowed me to keep those friendships. Others just have to talk politics no matter what, in every conversation, so sadly those have been lost, often by my choice. To go back to my original point, TDS, it does seem like some of these people have truly lost their minds, so I begin to believe in this. I wonder, can the stress created by this hate actually create madness? This stress can't be good for people, either physically or mentally.
There are just as many if not more Trump supporters that have quite a bit of contempt to say the least for anyone that fails to see Trumps “greatness”. It goes both ways.
Since you consider anyone who does not agree with or does not like Donald Trump, “the left” that’s probably true. Most sane news outlets, and other Americans including conservatives, liberals, moderates and independents do not like or believe anything Trump says.
You ask the question but are you truly looking for an answer? In order to get an explanation for her thinking, you'd have to ask her. Or, in lieu of her, someone who feels the same way. Are you genuinely interested or just using this 'story' to discuss what you deem as TDS in Democrat folks? In the event you truly wanted to understand her thinking, I'll share my thoughts... Trump was not the same president for 'us' as he was for 'you'. He offended us - in his words and deeds. The incessant lying was offensive. His desperate need for attention and adulation was offensive. His bringing in his family to key positions of the administration was offensive. His blatant disregard for rules and norms were offensive. The fact that he enriched himself (financially) through his presidency was offensive. The list could go on for pages. Now, if you had people in your life that idolized the person you found so offensive, wouldn't you have a difficult time keeping them in your life? Clearly, you have very different views, standards and ethics.
