wow where do I start. I agree the government is (*)(*)(*)(*), it commits crimes at a regular basis all so it can mine the world of its natural resources. That being said, don't be a dick. You are in no position to make overly broad characterizations of Americans considering that New Zealand was apart of the British empire who taught America everything we know colonialism. Not fair? How about your history with the indigenous people that were their before you arrived? I think its fantastic that you want to talk about corruption, but don't be a hypocrite. Don't paint Americans with a broad brush. We have the most sophisticated propaganda system in the history of man and the bastards on top have all but gutted our basic rights of autonomy. So, unless you are going to help and try to fight the corporate takeover, shove off. Your not helping by acting arrogant. Your just giving the idiots more of a reason to tune the rest of the world out and let the major news corps tell them what to believe. Moral of the story, don't rub salt in someone else's wounds when yours are exposed as well.
Wow. Where do I start? Yes, New Zealand was part of the British empire. But that was long ago and we have now looser associations with Britain than with many other countries. Our treatment of the indigenous people has been exemplary. Yes, we had to defeat them (2400 lost their lives in skirmishes over 27 years). Yes, we confiscated their land unfairly. But yes, we have returned it - with interest. And yes, they have been represented preferentially in our parliament for many years. They even have their own political party with ministerial responsibility in the current government. There is not much I can do to fix your political system. As a New Zealander, I regard it with horror and abhorrence (as you may have gathered). It is simply antithetical to everything I experience here. But I constantly wonder why Americans themselves make no attempts to fix it. That they don't - or don't succeed - is not a matter of my arrogance. It is a matter of their incompetence, apathy, or subservience to institutions that have clearly failed.
I have bypassed World of Warlocks and Craft with a single keystroke, disabling the mainframe and severing 26 blocks from electricity, while I wait for the keymaker to unlock the last door to the Architect. Morpheus is getting his #$% kicked by Agent Smith, but that which is necessary is never unwise. Does this help in your search for an answer?
Where did New Zealand get its reputation for bestiality? Seriously. I keep seeing the saying both here and on other boards. New Zealand Where men are men, women are women, and the sheep are nervous.
Not really. I am not that other worldly. But I would remind everyone that this thread was designed to extract the juice of achievement from American endeavour and shower me with its seductive nectar.
Anyone mention that the U.S. is the only nation to send manned missions beyond Earth orbit. Or the only nation to send unmanned probes to the outer planets.
American Exceptionalism: WE (with help from Al Gore) INVENTED THE INTERNET Then, with the help of Luke Skywalker, WE, singlehandedly, without help from Brits,NewZealanders,Canadians,Russians, and Fishhead people, injected a virus into the Death Star, destroying it with OUR superior Xwing fighters (made by GM and assembled in Mexico). WE RID the world of Darth Vader, but were treacherously betrayed by 3 Sequels which deprived us of victory accomplished. OBi OBama wan kinobe (we thought) could help us finish the menace, but Dennis is back, and although weeping as he takes the Mallet of Power from Cinderellas hands, will drive us all to the dark side of the force.
Perhaps aspiring to be pro-American was too greater an ambition. Perhaps I should start by trying to be pro-Aleutian Islands.
There must be something to admire that would offset: your gridlocked political system your rampant political corruption Hollywood your debt an avoracious health system that cures only those with money your housing collapse your surrender of commercial competitiveness to Asia your flip-flopping presidential candidates merchant banks that make money even when others are losing theirs your unshakeable faith in an extra-terrestrial being who have inflicted all of the above and so on Ther must be something to admire.
Good thread, here is my answer: You can be a good American by ignoring pretend to be nitwit Americans who support their governments criminal actions towards the middle east, by being anti NATO which in the eyes of humanity has become a criminal corporation
pro: life, guns, israel, nationalism, rich, straight marriage, whiskey, nascar, country music anti: immigrant, abortions, government, taxes, poor, regulation, homosexuals, minorities, imported beer ^ Good American
Our codependent relationship with the pharmaceutical industry which makes healthcare the most expensive and lease accessible to the masses in this country? Our staunch belief that corporations are people? Our refusal to fight a losing battle against obesity? Our unapologetic addiction to oil that has inspired us to democratize the (*)(*)(*)(*) out of the Middle East? Our ability to kick those without opporuKicking those without opportunity Having the courage to not only attain nuclear weapons but to actually use them. Innovating the monetization of free speech.
