Texas attorney general petitions state supreme court after woman who sued the state was granted permission for an abortion

Is Ken Paxton a dem operative? It certainly seems so. Because he is handing 2024 to the democrats. And for what? So that the baby will die two days after it is born and the mother will either die or become infertile? I invite conservatives to come in here and attempt to defend what Ken Paxton is doing.

Looks like dems are going to get a record share of the female vote.

    Paxton is a complete and hell-bound *******...

Were I Mrs. Cox (and I'd hate to be ANY woman in the Texiban), I would have been in a hospital within 1 hour of the ruling yesterday, thus leaving Ken Paxton to stick it where the sun don't shine.

    SNIP
Molly Duane, Cox’s attorney, would not say Thursday when and where Cox would be getting the abortion but said they planned to help get her the care “the fastest way” possible.
    ENDSNIP

Texas will be the first state that attempts to legally put an aborted fetus back in the womb to finish out the pregnancy...

It was never about “life” — it is about control and religious dogma.

    EVERY republican is complicit

I hope women do not forget how Republicans view them in elections going forward. This will only be the beginning

Man if only we had ways besides abortion to prevent unwanted pregnancy.

Guess you didn’t know this, abortion does not prevent pregnancy.
And how’s that have anything to do with this woman and her health being at risk due to this pregnancy? You think she knew that??

Who is he to decide what is and what is not “life threatening”?

She wanted this baby until she discovered he was terminally ill and was likely to either kill her or leave her infertile.

*sigh* If only people spent 10 seconds to research - you would have seen that the woman wanted the child, but the fetus has a terminal defect and
is not viable. Knowledge is a wonderful thing.

“Most won’t”??? “Most won’t”??? You have GOT to be kidding,! So a few cells are more important than living breathing people? Maternal mortality can strike healthy women as well as the chronically ill. America just lost an Olympic athlete to Maternal complications - Tori Bowie

Let’s put a face to America’s Maternal Mortality - Tori Bowie

Young, superbly fit, pregnant and now dead

The killer? “Eclampsia”. One of a myriad of issues that can kill the pregnant woman

Without those "few" cells neither you or I would be here right now so yes one can say they're very important.

If you could magically get in a time machine would you think that your few cells were not very important?

That's what the entire topic is about is the so-called right to terminate the life of a child.

One of the issues is that the majority of children born with that condition suffer mental impairment -- but not all of them.

So the abortion would be to prevent a baby who will be intellectually disabled from continuing to grow and develop and live, but there are no guarantees or absolute certainties that the baby will be intellectually disabled.

In other words, to off babies with mental disabilities, one is going to have to necessarily off a few babies who don't have mental disabilities as well.

Sadly, as in this case, it is either the foetus or both
