The Age of the universe?

It doesn't really matter if you believe me. What matters is to know for yourself. My testimony alone can't save you. It isn't tradeable. You must know for yourself. It is like Jesus's parable of the ten virgins, five with oil of their own and five without. When notice came that the Bride Groom had arrived, the five with oil went straightaway. The five without had to seek to buy oil. So when they arrived late, they were shut out. "But he answered and said, Verily I say unto you, I know you not. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh."

 

And to that I say, "So what"?

It does absolutely nothing to corroborate your story about your experience with god. You can tell all the parables you want, but without corroborating evidence of some kind the answer will always be the same, "So what?"

I can say your parable is those who do not believe are those with the oil. They have an accurate view of reality and live THIS life.
Those without the oil do not have an accurate view of reality and spend this life trying to find that accurate view...but by the time they find it their life is near over and they've wasted their life searching for a world view that doesn't actually exist.

 

I have no respect, and can do nothing but shower disdain and mental superiority over young earth creationists. ( of which I am glad to see none have subscribed to ), and flat earthers.

 

You are turning it upside down. To say this life is everything, is by way of reason, to lose everything in the end, having stored no treasures in heaven and made no preparations for an accounting. Like Jesus said, what does it profit a man to gain the world only to lose his soul. Which person is doing the wasting of his life?

When did fidelity to a marriage covenant become foolishness by its inherent restrictions, and adultery a virtue by throwing off restraint? You've mistakenly concluded that adherence to God is to miss out on something. But adherence to God is true life due to his companionship. In so doing, you aren't missing anything. You are only putting off the myriad enticements of the world which call you away to the rocks, like the sirens of Greek mythology.

With God, you remain living. You breathe, eat, work, sleep, play, and attend to all life's duties. But it is to his honor, glory, and pleasure, rather than to ones own, because he is the author of it all. God is real, he lives and is divine. I know this by his knowledge of me according to the intercession of his spirit, which awakened me to a remembrance of him, in part, and of a surety. That is reality. It is the truth.

 

To say there is any kind of existence beyond this life is to abandon reason.

There is no evidence for any of these claims. Reason demands that you withhold belief until evidence is provided.

 

My evidence is in my heart, mind, and soul. So I speak it as evidentiary. To know for yourself, you will have to seek the evidence for yourself from God by praying. It's free and less painful than a hammer to the head.

If you are all in your mind, then your higher functions of love, hope, and faith, have ceased functioning, likewise the light of conscience to know right from wrong. Every part of me knows that God lives.

 

Not at all. These things come through experience from childhood. Thats why upbringing is so important.

 

Why would one hope that science works when it is empty. And what does one hope to achieve in dying. To what or whom does hope go when it is all that remains to do.

 

Because that is nature. All your dreams and fancies in hoping for something better are in the mind. You need something to believe in so you believe that an experience gives you just that. Many people have experiences of 'conversion'. Particularly after hearing an Evangelist trying to convince them of their need. For many this is just what they need and are 'converted'. Dissatisfaction with ones own life and the need for something better, or to ease a troubled conscience by the thought they are bad and can be forgiven.
Science certainly works within the limits of current knowledge. For example the ancient Egyptians recognised cancer and used the term carcinoma (in Egyptian)> They could not cure it as science had not progressed to the ability we have today. No radiotherapy etc. You live as you do because of science.

 

Absolutely no evidence for anything in this entire post.

 

Truth is self evident.

 

Only to those who want to believe it. What is truth? For instance that God exists is not self evident - except in your mind. In my mind evolution is self evident, ergo truth.

 

There's lots of evidence for the evolution of species by means of natural selection. None for the existence of any god.
Look, if this guy is happy with his fantasy, then so be it. But he should understand that he is going to be ridiculed for it.

I couldn't and wouldn't say that I know that God is real, that he lives and is divine, had he not sent his servant, the holy spirit, to know me and to awaken me to a remembrance of him. And to see that true life is in him rather than in myself or in my life alone. Previous to that, my life was my all and my religion so to speak. What else is there if not your family, friends, hobbies, work, the world into which you are born, and your inner sanctum.

Who can know other than this without it being made known to you from without oneself and outside the world of tradition, beyond this secular existence. Why would a sane person say we all know God but have forgotten him and that the world functions in a state of amnesia, refilled with what we've made of life and passed from generation to generation.

It is the same with the gospel, being passed from generation to generation. Only it is rejected by the world for two reasons. One is that it is an unknown thing to the world. And second is that it bespeaks accountability and stirs people from slumber. Who wants an unknown and troubling thing? But those are just words. It is the spirit of God that testifies and enlivens, bringing about the passage of the testimony thru the ages like the Ark of the covenant. So what is to be made of this mystery? Is the world not reeling in hedonism and ignorance? Jesus did not go where he wasn't wanted and turned away from. So why ask why the world is unaware.

 

It is rejected for a third reason.

There is no evidence that it is true. None. No amount of "personal experience" or "visits by the Holy Spirit" are going to convince others that it is true. I don't believe in Santa, The Tooth Fairy, The Easter Bunny, Paul Bunyon, King Arthur, Robin Hood...all for the exact same simple reason....lack of evidence.

 

Were the theory of evolution true, then in owing to the repetitive continuity of natures character, the earth would be teeming with fractional humans in testimony of evolution. But it isn't. There are only humans and all else. So the theory is in contradiction to the repetitive and constant character of nature. This is self evident. We have an eight thousand year history of humans being born, living and dying as humans. And not one instance of an animal becoming a human in any stage of evolving....not a single one. Yet you ignore the abundance of evidence in testimony of our foundation, and choose instead to leap off the truth and latch on to a ticklish theory in the murk for stanchion. You know you came from your Parents who came from theirs and so on. But you insist that you came from apes, the folly of which is self evident. And you tell me that I'm deluded to say I know that God lives, when all throughout history others have said the same. But none have said we evolve from apes. So what I say is not some new thing, though it is new to me.

 

All your post means is that you do not understand The Theory of Evolution

 

I think you should study Evolution. We are talking of grsdual evolution from animals to humans over millions of years. There's plenty of evidence for that. Not sudden changes.
Evolutionary thought, the recognition that species change over time and the perceived understanding of how such processes work, has roots in antiquity—in the ideas of the ancient Greeks, Romans, Chinese, Church Fathers as well as in medieval Islamic science.

 

Here is your first mistake.
In some sense the earth IS teeming with "fractional humans"
Animals and humans have common ancestors.

I have descended (through one family line out of many) from a family known as the Towne family. The Towne family (and all members of it) trace their ancestry through the children of William Towne and Joanna (Blessing) Towne.

All members of the Towne family are "fractional Townes". There are some, throughout the hundreds of years and a dozen or so generations who still have the surname Towne. Just because I don't have the surname Towne (My great grandmother did) doesn't mean that I didn't descend from William Towne.

Both humans and chimpanzees are of the same "family", Hominid, but they diverged so that they are no longer the same "Tribe" (Humans are "Homini" and chimpanzees are "pan")

In my family line everyone was a Towne until my great grandmother became a "Burbank". That doesn't make me any less a Towne than people who still have the name. Chimps and Humans are both Hominids...but chimps no longer are part of the tribe "Homini"

I personally have termed myself a "Theistic Evolutionist" and I believe that The Being of Light of near death experience fame in a sense has

learned AND "EVOLVED" over infinite TIME in the past.........

I also believe that the Being of Light of near death experience fame is composed of Energy from Quantum Vacuum and.......

I also associate the Being of Light of near death experience fame with the resurrected Rabbi Yeshua - Jesus???!!!!

My belief at this time is that The Being of Light of near death experience fame is producing eight billion reality film projects with all eight billion humans!?


The LIFE REVIEW of about one third of near death experiencers who remember being outside of their bodies.............. seems to my thinking to be evidence that our lives may well be REALITY FILM PROJECTS produced by our Creator and His Messiah - Moshiach??????

Nonsense. There are no animals becoming human. And we did not come from Chimps. Neither is there any evidence whatsoever of a chimp becoming human in any stage of development. Your personal lineage is all human. Why try to obfuscate the matter with fairy dust.

 

When gravity ceases, when the sun ceases to shine, when the earth ceases to turn, when the solar system ceases to revolve around the sun, when the seasons cease to unfold, when the waters cease to evaporate and condense, when thermals cease making wind, when tides cease rising and falling, when hearts cease to beat and breathing to stop, when the waves cease to lap the shores, and when everything ceases to bring forth seed after its own kind, and when nature ceases to repeat itself in character, then you might convince me that nature made man and retired before our cognizance of the world around us. Until then the theory of evolution is contradictory to the character of nature, by which the earth would be teeming with fractional humans were it true. You'd have to break nature for it to begin to make man. Then you'd have to break it again for it to stop rather than fill the earth with animals becoming human. So neither one is true. It is an intellectual contrivance which is out of character with reality and the nature from which it is proposed to have sprung. It is primitive mental gymnastics, wholly unbefitting of an enlightened and progressive species, trying the very patience of God. Why would anyone allow themselves to be sucked into this nonsense.

 

Once again you have zero understanding of the Theory of Evolution. Attempting to have a discussion with you about it is pointless if you don't understand it.
