To be left alone to live your life as you see fit. I want to raise my family in peace.

 

I've always regarded it as unlimited possibility. That if you work hard, you can live your dreams.

That will only happen if religion is destroyed. It's religion which is causing the ultimate threat to the survival of mankind.

 

To be independent is the American Dream. Plain and simple.

 

Being free from social constaints, being rich and powerful and being able to buy and consume lots. My Dream and the American Dream, both the same and the reason I like this country so. America asks that people be paragons of being people, not paragons of paragons

Its the idea that every citizen can have an equal chance to attain anything they want through hard work.

If you want to be a businessman and wealthy then America has provided a path for you to take.

If you want to be an astronaut then there is a path you can take for that also.

The only limits to what a person can do is the person themselves.

 

It's an empty container which can be filled with whatever the dreamer wants to put in there.

"To be able to buy and consume a lot of stuff" but I do believe that the American dream is evolving........... and more and more Americans and Canadians deep down want for our nations to be a true example to the rest of the world............

We do know deep down that simply buying and consuming a lot of stuff is not a good reason to work so hard......

 

Strangely enough..... i don't one hundred percent disagree with you on this.......
I see Spirituality as being an important part of the answer to the problems facing humanity but.... .the word " religion" does have very different connotations.

We humans...... tend to idolize one particular denomination or religion........
and the faithful tend to behave a lot like the extreme left who i think will do Nancy Pelosi type "Warp Up Smears" against anybody who President Trump puts into a high office..... (and yes..... the political right are not innocent of doing this same type of thing either).

Deeply religious people are very, very worried about where tithes and donations will eventually go...... So the Wrap Up Smear of whatever religious leader is regarded as the number one or two rival..... is the tactic that many religious officials use regularly.

... but..... the answer is not to get rid of either Religion or Spirituality but.... to positively transform it so that we can recognize the value that somebody from a different background is obviously bringing to the table.......

That's why I was so amaaaazed to get your Like. lol In my own way, I'm spiritual; I've had enough experiences to persuade me that I have a guardian angel (obviously not one with wings and a harp though ). To elucidate; quite a few times ove the years I've made what I thought was a good decision, but subsequently stuff unexpectedly happened which frustrated my ambition - only to be replaced by an alternative which was far more to my advantage. In fact, it happened again in the last few weeks - I put down a deposit on another car. I felt a bit uneasy about it but after much careful researching, I decided there was no better alternative. Unusually I wasn't looking forward to taking delivery of it, and as the unease had increased I phoned the dealership to cancel it, thereby forfeiting the sizeable deposit. Two weeks later whilst browsing the internet, and having been browsing it for some weeks, I saw my 'dream' car - a bit more than I wanted to pay, but the high spec convinced me it was the right one. Back to the topic though - organized religion is (as they say over there)| 'for the birds'.

 

I've heard it said that the American Dream is to have everything you desire at the push of a button. But then I'm certain we'd complain about having to push the button...

I chose independence.

The American dream seems to be free house, free cash, free burgers and full fat coke all seem popular with the 80 million prediabetics this year, free health care next!

 

Never have to worry about necessities of life, big government to take care of citizens and protect us and to be a good obeying citizen and it would solve a lot of problems but it also won't happen fully.

 

Wrong country, that's was the USSR dream. The one that killed 40 Million +! The road to hell is paved by good intentions!

Maybe get a job would be a good short term solution for most people? Seems a good time right now given there is so many available.

What you describe sounds like hell to me! People are born to be free and government should have the minimal interference as possible in people's lives.

 

There are different kinds and sorts of freedom one can have some limits on speech while you don't have to worry about being hungry, I would argue the latter is the superior freedom if you don't eat you can die you can't do offensive speech about blacks or women is far less important.

 

Congrats you pulled race and woman card in the same post, not many people go there. Some people even try to make points but you went straight there bypassing the logic.

You should run for the DNC.
