The whole nation viewed Hirohito as a god. Once he stepped forward no one was going to oppose him.

There was of course infighting within the war council, but even those hard liners would not oppose the Emperor's decision.

    Sure.

That's why after he told the country they were surrendering by national broadcast, he told them that he wasn't really a god.

No, he controlled something more important: the Japanese people who revered him.

They saw him as divine, but not as a god.
The legend made his lineage descendant of Amaterasu the goddess, but without the god like attribute.
A bit like Perseus in greek mythology.

Keep working on your delivery, you're not quite there yet. But maybe it's too hard for you... We all have to play with the card that we're dealt... Then again, you're not really playing with a full deck, you have a two card only.

I am feeling generous because I am on vacation.

Just name two military experts that publicly agreed with you and I will let you off the hook

What hook? Do you think you've any power to make anybody do anything. You may ask, politely, and if we feel like it we may answer your question, but don't go getting all uppity in front of everybody now.

Not really. You're looking at it with the christian perspective where Jesus is both the son of god and god at the same time. Try looking at it from an asian or even a greek perspective where gods made many childrens with normal humans, most of them not having any divine power at all.

Being of the lineage of Amaterasu, just made them the head/figurehead of the church, like the queen of england is. They had so few powers that for all the centuries they were under the sword of the leading warlords (shôgun). They lived and died at their behest.

Under the then Japanese constitution, he had supreme power, unlike your example of the Queen of England. He just didn't exercise it.

During the surrender, it was he who the Japanese people were listening to, not the Diet or the war cabinet.

    Yes, the Kyujo Incident.

And I am sure you have a source to confirm that, right?

Here is some actual data. In 1945, the XXI Bomber Command (Far East) conducted 315 B-29 missions. Their losses were 279 aircraft. That is an average of less than 1 aircraft lost per mission. Pilots who had transferred in from the European Theater considered the missions over Japan to be a "Milk Run", which is was when compared to the missions and losses over Germany.

And the actual number of B-29's "shot down" is 147. 74 to fighters, 54 to AAA, and 19 to a combination of both.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_raids_on_Japan

And according to Japanese sources and research conducted by Military Intelligence after the war, the total number of B-29 crashes in Japan was 142.

    http://www.cooksontributeb29.com/uploads/5/8/6/5/5865941/b29_fukubayashi.pdf

So please, a reference as to how you arrived at your total of 429 aircraft. Your claims are far away from any other sources I have ever seen, most accounts I have read show the leading causes of aircraft losses were mechanical failure, weather, and landings.

And yes, your irrational hatred is noted yet again, and ignored yet again. Please put aside your hatred and racism and try to discuss things logically and with sources.

Yes, and as such he had little to no impact on their daily life. He was a symbol, the high priest of their religion, he was not a man. And this is how it had been for hundreds of years. You seem to be confusing Emperor Showa with Emperor Napoleon.

The Emperor made no decisions, he ruled nobody and nothing. All decisions were made in his name and he had no input in them. He only made a decision a single time. And the entire "infighting within the war council" was only for a period of 3 days. Prior to that, it was unanimous that they continue no matter what.

Yea, hardliners would not oppose the Emperor's decision. To bad that is exactly what happened, during the revolt the night before the surrender was announced.

Your avatar name is apt for this discussion.

The country was tired of years of war and wanted it ended. The government needed it ended. The bombs ended it with Japan. Win for the US.
