The Bolsheviks do not receive nearly the same condemnation as Nazis

Any ideas as to why?

I have my opinions, but would like to hear others' opinions on the Bolsheviks and why they are not portrayed by history and the media as a beacon of evil to the same extent as Hitler.

Because FDR among other leftists led a propaganda campaign to ensure that the USSR was viewed favorably. See below. Mission to Moscow was a movie encouraged by FDR's administration to do just that. I especially like the part where they take Stalins side on the purges. To liberals and FDR, the USSR was wonderful. Enjoy the propaganda.

There appears to be something much more sinister, in the eyes of many, about wanting to wipe off an entire race off the face of the earth (the Jews) then about killing political opponents, even though the Soviets killed just as much if not more. Also, I think there was a lot more up close information that people got about the Holocaust from survivors and people who saw the camps themselves. Regardless, they were both horrible.

The intro is quite disturbing just by itself. Even if FDR did lead a campaign to shed a favorable light on the USSR, it seems that history would have sorted this out by now, or this whitewashing has been maintained to this very day?

It seems Third Reich documentaries are always on the History Channel, and we have a new Nazi movie every few months. Educate me on the atrocities of the Bolsheviks, please. Let's see the Bolsheviks on the big screen.

 

It was because they were on their side in the war. People go to crazy immoral lengths to create propaganda for their side. It has nothing to do with "liberals", anyone else during that time would have probably done the same, unfortunately.

 

And let's remember, Bolsheviks became communists.

The Red scare in the early 1920's, is a clear example of America's fear of communism. We invaded Russia, in order for it to stop. The reason for the movie above, is because we were in WWII. Of course propganda was out there in WWII. We see afterwards, McCarthy target Hollywood and the army over "communists" there. Martin Luther King Jr, was called a communist.

Today, look around. It's used as a boogey man by the right wing. The reason why it doesn't seem as mean as being called a nazi, is because it's been over used.

 

Lennin and Stalin make Hitler look like a child found guilty of stealing a candy bar from the local super market. There is no comparison.

Hitler was an amateur when it came to genocide. Stalin was a Hall of Famer.

 

Communism is not Bolshevism.

In Bolshevik Russia, there was no common ownership of land, goods and money; nor is there equal pay for all. Bolshevism is State Capitalism.

Venona vindicated McCarthy. End of story. You can have any political view you want but it is illegal to accept funding and support from outside influences, especially when they are sworn enemies of the united states. Especially when you swear allegence to the USSR. The "hollywoond ten" that you spoke of was persecuted not by McCarthy, effectivly showing how little you know of history. McCarthy wasent even a member of HUAC at that time. Hollywood was a target well before McCarthy led that commitee, specifically known as the "Dies Committee" led by a democrat. Furthermore, the Hollywood 10 were in fact communists who were a card carrying part of an organization funded by the USSR when Stalin was murdering thousands. You need to throw away that AP history book! Or perhaps you should see Harry Hopkins (the founder of the New Deal) consult behind FDR's back with the USSR via signed documents as noted in this book. The difference between Hitler and Stalin is that Hitler wanted to kill all jews, he failed and his country was destroyed.
Stalin wanted to develop his country and he succeeded. When he took power Russia was a feudal poor and agriculture based nation, when he died it was a superpower with nuclear weapons

 

So instead of refuting them, you do nada expect say how wrong they are? Makes perfect sense.
