Well, there are some regions nowadays where you get your head cut off for far less then not wearing a burka. The burka is real, and so is the men's world dictating it..... I think for most of us any God is a can be, not a must be. No one can say for sure, there is a God or there is no God. In contrast, all religion are men made, not women made. All books are written by men, and all rules are written by men. If you are a woman, you would know what I mean..... Best regards
I think the whole thing is all about the old thing sexism. PERIOD. Last summer I was driving past a park in a large city , it was close to 90 degrees. I saw two men and two women getting out of a car . The men were dressed in khaki pants and light shirts, completely appropriate for a hot day at the park. The women were layered in BLACK cloth from head to toe. That is just plain Stupid . Men do as they please to be comfortable, women do as they're told..... If their men insist they wear that crap , it's abuse.
I don't think that you should expect Arab women to toss out their culture and tradition just because an American thinks the way the dress is "abusive".
I posted: "If their men insist they wear that crap , it's abuse"" The men seemed quite willing to dress appropriately. And yes, I expect those who come to this country to adapt but I realize that some don't like America but simply want to bring their country here....I have a right not to like that just as they have a right to dress in ridiculous costumes.....Halloween IS my favorite holiday! .
Well, maybe us aussie men should all wear robes....what about shorts...men wear shorts where you live dont they....
Maybe in the desert.......not Minneapolis. And IF that were true about the more you wear the cooler you are ALL hot countries would be filled with people wrapped in blankets and they are not.
The one thing I have noticed in this thread is that there is only one woman defending the right of women to wear the burka....I would have thought if I was out of line, there would have been a few more....
LOL, look harder. I see it all the time, the wife covered up like ugly statue that must be hidden, and the guy wearing shorts and a tank top.... kids in tow. The full regalia is impractical, unsafe and socially retarded (as in ancient and counterproductive).
Well you must live somewhere I don't know. Here in Sydney, I would be lucky to see one or two a week. But I have never seen one accompanied by a guy in shorts, usual;ly they are wearing a Dishdasha or some other garment
Not if you want to actually 'do' anything, but yea I guess they can be breezy to some extent. The requirement to not show anything (else why bother) would limit ones capacity to perform a variety of activities though. I guess they are not allowed to do anything interesting so it's a non-issue for them - which is a shame they might miss out on so much this world has to offer. Additionally the restricted visibility and restricted movement all increase the chance of material getting caught in machinery and if they are not flame resistant then that further increases the risk for someone deliberately limiting their capacity to move and be actively engaged in their environment - so if they want to be 'private property' to serve the family men I guess it doesn't matter so much because they'll be busy doing the boring stuff anyway.
That's what my last sentence says.... if they really are just happy being slaves to their men folk, then it wont matter because they wont be doing anything interesting anyway. Luckily there is not that many sporting the full outfits in Australia, yet.
Yea nah, you got your wires xed. I was referring to muslim men in shorts with muslim wives fully dressed as a proportion of seeing muslim wives fully dressed up.... not as a proportion of muslim women, which is what the later was referring too.
No ... you ... you said ... quote This to me means that all the time, you see women covered and hidden, while the guy wears shorts and a tank top .. and kids in tow. Now I will give you the benefit of the doubt that you do not see THAT all the time unless one lives near you and walks past you all the time. Let's just say, "You see women covered up all the time" Now since this is about the Burka, one would assume you are talking about the Burka. The second part is that not a lot wear the Burka yet, if that too is as a proportion to Muslim women, then the proportion would be even less of all women so not many wear the Burka. Do you write Abbott's speeches, he talks in circles also.
