You guys don't think the government is watching this forum? Politicalforum.com? LOL!

Watch what you say, Obama might declare you a terrorist and you'll get hauled off to Gitmo indefinitely without trial. Or he might just have you assassinated. Whichever is more convenient.

It's no joke. I'm surprised the internet hasn't been shut down yet. It'll be the downfall of the state.

Okay, let's put that to the test......

wait.....I'm at work......I better not do that....

I guess since the government does monitor web traffic looking for keywords that are common amongst terror groups......it's possible, but you do know there isn't a government official watching this site...don't you?

Yeah. This guy game to my door. He looked suspicious.

Claimed he wanted to read my meter.

But I could see the bulge under his armpit. So I shot him.

I haven't received an electricity bill for a month.

Has anyone read any of the books from Obama's right hand man Cass Sunstein?

In his 2001 book, "Republic.com", he aruged that the internet may weaken a democracy because it allows citizens to isolate themselves within groups that share their own views and experiences, and then cut themselves off from any information, that might challenge their beliefs, a phenomenon known as "cyberbalkanization".

In 2006 he co-authored a book called "Conspiracy Theories" that discussed governments role in preventing conspiracy theories, like the one in the OP, from flourishing. He proposed that government agents might enter chat rooms or on line social networks in an attempt to undermine percolating conspiracy theories by raising doubts about their factual premises, causal logic, or implications for political action. They even suggest recruiting "nongovernmental officials" and the government can supply these hand picked "experts" with information and prod them into action from behind the curtain. Of course, they warned that if this was this was revealed, "too close connection will be self defeating if exposed". However, if their cover is maintained it would provide an added air of credibility to those expert debators.

Again, what's the difference. All citizens are subject to idiotic law written by overeducated idiots... or military juntas.

Let's all get very real here.

Imagine you are the president and very concerned with your image and standing in the polls. Consider that you have a few hundred staff who in tern have staff.
Now, would you not want your political advisers to know what's going on in the internet?

Now, as long as they are monitoring and reporting 'trends', why not have them register and log on with an anonymous user name? They could easily divert the intent of various threads, contradict information being posted that is against the party position, propagandize the party position e.g "the stimulus program was a success" etc., and wear down the opposition. Any of that sound familiar?

Now what would that take? Three, maybe five people? When your budget is a few million, who would notice a few positions at, say $40K a year?

If you don't think it's happening I have a bridge to Canada I will sell you. If you don't think it's happening in here, I have some oceanfront property in Iowa for you...[just wait for 'global warming].

Puhleese, that's what all those stooges on the govt payroll are for. Even more likely, the overpaid stooges hire contractors to monitor political forums. Too much work for a govt worker. ;)

Considering that Gitmo is in Florida, it is a lot better climate than most of the`US and Europe this time of the year, so it's not that bad. Besides, getting shot should beat the prospect of endlessly agonizing in a nursing home for most folks, I bet.
