I will give you credit for one thing, you have an excellent abilty to ignore facts, logic and reason. Good luck with that.
I never to you to do anything, you seemed to missed my point(s), I said I was not interested in teaching you or guiding you to the teachings of Jesus, which Means: I do not care what your opinion or beliefs are on religion and your opinion of my beliefs count fior apsolutely Nothing. Clear it up for ya? If not maybe someone else talk to ya, you have already had far too much of my time, Times Up.

the greatest weapon of mass murder is the nuclear bomb.

it can kill millions of people in 1/100th of a second.

Very true, I was once in the business and we could launch 9 missiles in less than 30 seconds and each had up to five warheads. God help Mankind if we are ever stupid enough to go down that path. As Einstein said when asked what weapons mankind would use in WWIII, he said that he did not know but he knew what we would fight WWIV with, sticks and stones. One of these days mankind might actually Evolve enough to stop killing his brothers, until then we all live under the gun and the trigger is controlled by people that are often not stable.

Seen this all before- sort of cycles through the "I hate Muslim" community.

Basically they make estimates of all of the deaths by anyone who could be remotely connected or considered "Muslim" from the beginning of time and tell us how horrible Islam is.

I will say it would not surprise me if Muslims are responsible for 2- maybe even 3 times the number of 'murders' as Christians.

And what a wonderful claim that would be: "Christians are better than Muslims because Christians only murdered 1/3 as many people as Muslims"!

Most murders and genocides in history have been committed by people who were either raised religiously, or were actively of one faith or another. Some of the worst attrocities in history have been done by the religiously inspired.

If your own particular religion just murdered fewer people does that make you feel better? Safer?

One of the most important things of history IMO is understanding why things happened the way they did and what were the motivations of certain actions. Was it strictly for religious reasons that the Ottomons tried so hard to capture Constantinople? Is it all that hard to imagine that people would want to capture the city because, I don't know it was the richest city in the word. Maybe others wanted it for personal glory, you know for being the ones to finally capture it over centuries of conflict. The walls of Constantinople were considered impossible to defeat. An entire new technology (cannons) had to be invented to capture the city. Using Constantinople is just one example to use to illustrate the different possible motivations for historical events.

I think it is interesting to point out though that the bloodiest century in human history is also the least religious. That flies in the face of the "horrors of religion."

What about the Epic of Gilgamesh? Wouldn't that compare? And never mind the fact that taking Genesis entirely literally is a pretty modern concept. St. Augustine didn't think so, and neither did St. Peter. Peter actually referenced the great flood as prefiguring baptism. (1 Peter 3:21)

If you take the flood as being literally true, rather than seeing it for what it really was. Sure.

Now, have you compared the Israelites to all the other civilizations at the time and came to the same conclusion, or are you just assuming so. From what I've read, the Assyrians were a bunch of meanies.

The Romans were pretty mean as well. Christianity put an end to barbaric gladiator fights and infanticide. There's something about people getting disemboweled and ripped apart by wild beasts that seemed unpleasant, I'm not sure. And since Rome needed more soldiers for their empire, it wasn't that uncommon for a newborn daughter to be killed.

I hope your joking because making such wild unsubstantiated claims about people on internet forums, some people would find that downright offensive. It's obvious to me you are trying to bait him to a senseless argument. I think longknife has just chosen to ignore you which is fine. He doesn't have to answer you know.

You said it. So know people are thinking it.

I start with the ridiculous death toll claims- in excess of 500 million. That's the first red flag.

The second red flag was a link on the website- "Islam caused the dark ages."

This is so ludicrous it's barely worth mentioning. The west fell into chaos long before Islam even arrived on the scene and would only pose a threat to the Eastern half (technically the only half) of the empire. The greatest threat to the west were those pesky barbarians, but eventually they would become Christian. The Moors didn't even pose a threat until they conquered Spain in the 8th century and invaded France. Who does the west have to thank for reintroducing them to classic texts, namely Aristotle which lead to the era of Scholasticism? They have Muslim and Jewish scholars living in Cordoba, Spain. The major Muslim scholar at the time that preserved much of Aristotle's works. The Muslims were also pretty good with algebra as well from what I've heard.

I don't need to refute every single point made on that website of yours, It only takes a couple minutes and I can tell it's bs.

As evidence by this thread, we have a long way to go. Still plenty of people trying to tell others how to live and willing to kill to get their point across.
Unless of course this thread is nothing more than a pure history lesson.

My rationalization was not and is not bad. At the time of my writing previously, this thread was not acted upon by the Moderators. However, now that the thread has been moved to a more appropriate location, there is no longer any room for arguments based on science... Just historical facts... So, do you sttill want to attempt to use the 'Bible' as a resource relating to 'historical fact'? Probably not. So do you have any historical facts to dispute what was stated in the OP?

Good thing this was moved to the history section so it can be talked about historically instead of the religion section where it would be talked about hysterically.

Nope. I think Mr conservative said it best on the previous page.

And other people think differently than you. So what is the point? Stressing the importance of YOUR OPINION? LOL.

Your out of you league here. This is history. Facts. Not make believe anymore. You are in uncharted territory. No opinions.

Oh my Lord above - of whatever faith.

The same justification Hitler and Stalin used. And that is okay with you?

All of this diverting simply doesn't work.

The FACTS are clear - in the name of Allah, a group of those who deeply believe in the myths taught by Mohammed has slaughtered hundreds of millions. And you claim that is okay because it was "an established government"?

The sickness is almost too much to deal with. :wall:

Well you do realize the facts are clear- in the name of Jesus- a group of those who deeply believe in the myths taught by Christians, has slaughtered millions.

Perhaps the followers of Mohammed have murdered millions more than the followers of Jesus.

And therefore Christians can make the claim "Christians only murdered 50 million people while Muslims murdered 100 million people!"

    And feel so much better.

All that and many of those wars would've taken place regardless of the religion involved, china was a collection of independent states that were constantly at war for centuries and they weren't islamic...the same applies to india, multiple kingdoms warring among themselves long before turkic muslims arrived...

    Not a deflection.

Millions have been murdered in the name of Allah
Millions have been murdered in the name of Christ

    Both historic facts.

Yet one side wants to crow- "We murdered fewer millions than the other guys!"

Historical facts or tales of the black legend all because England hated Spain? Horror stories of the Spanish Inquisition have been greatly exaggerated.

Anything to deflect from the facts. My group killed less than their group. Who cares, each kill in the name of the same God.

If we use the same criteria as the OP- i.e. any murder committed by anyone who is a Christian, any war started by Christians, any violence by a person who was ever a Christian- we have far more than the Spanish Inquisition- the Inquistion was small potatoes.

There was the 30 Years War, the Baltic Crusades, the better known crusades, the slaughter of the natives of the Americas, the thousands and thousands of Indians killed by British in the conquest of India, etc, etc

Mind you- I don't mention these to say that Christianity is bad- I point out that millions have been killed by Christians or in the name of Christ- just as millions have been murdered in the name of Allah.

Maybe more have been murdered in the name of Allah, but I think that just murdering fewer millions is much to brag about.
