I know about the mediterranean etc. of course there wre houses of sorts, along the shores of the Black Sea, and, calculations show the the lake shore would have moved asbout a foot a day, depending on topography. A sleepy snail could have retreated from it.

Barak Obama is more similar to the Metro-Goldwin Lion that the ark story resembles any actual events.

I've neither called it dishonesty, nor called for doing the baby and bathwater bit.

Tho many a xian has it that either the ark is history, or the bible is a lie.

Educated christians of course, know better than that.

Do you have no problem with people teaching as literal truth something that not only is false thro and thro, but shows your god as a psycho monster?

BTW, I did some research awhile back about the land area between the Med Sea and Red Sea and found a couple of interesting facts while researching the Red/Reed Sea crossing of the Exodus..

It is said that in ancient times the Red Sea reached northward to the Bitter Lakes[and Lake Timsah.) or better known as the Reed Sea area, Or about 50 mi from where the Med Coast is today..

The Red Sea is believed by some historians to have gradually receded over the centuries, its coastline slowly moving farther and farther southward away from Lake Timsah and the Great Bitter Lake to its present coastline today.

And, Darius I of Persia, who conquered Ancient Egypt, built a canal linking the Mediterranean to the Red Sea.

And Yes, there was a special on TV about sunken temples in India about 300 yards from today's present shore line.

No doubt that the seas have risen as the ice receded over 100K's years, and we are finding ancient civilizations older than what history has thought of ancient civilized man.

And, btw, by physical locations, the Black Sea isnt far from the Tigris & Euphrates 'heads,' and if there was a significant 'over flowing of the Black sea, the overflow could have found it's way into the T-E Valley and flooded ancient Babylon et al.

Again, history that could have been communicated 'differently' by local ancient observers.

But to your question: I let God sort them out as to what ppl teach their children as they are the parents, not me! At some point as adults, 'we' all must make up our own minds, either being lazy and not researching and close minded, or if diligently researching then evaluating (as I said b4) to 'settle our own questions & consciences."

So we seem to have come full circle:

    to a bit less judgemental!

tho I must say, a bit of bad language and decadence seems hardly in a class with
people insisting on their children accepting an anti-rational, anti science, ant intellecutal stance, one that portrays "god" as being at once perfect and the essence of love; and at the same time, showing him to be a monster, a mass murderer of "epic' proportions.

I'm not sure of what kind of 'circle' you are drawing, but belief in and following the spiritual messages in the scriptures does not lead to cursing & unholiness.

But it looks like you have ferreted out some kind of logic to appease your rejection of God, and a life of following the Words of Jesus Christ which yield individual peace & result in 'civility' (the 'Golden Rule) of life style. And, as scripture states, "Bless and curse not." Sounds as promoting 'civility' to me!

And so the 'nature' of man being self-centered and self appeasing will find a way to justify their life style and belief system...as "I am my own god."

I believe the Right should be required to take a morals test before registering any complaints on moral grounds.

Sounds as if you are 'stuck' in the Bronze Age and an outdated old covenant of 'Judgment' to control the 'hard-hearted/stiff-necked' ppl (as scripture calls them) of that time, and thus choose to throw the 'baby (Jesus) out with the bath water' who is the author of a 'New & Better Covenant' and the manifested 'Grace of God' upon all ppls.

Again I also mentioned secular 'Christians' who use GD's, JC's, etc.

And putting a cross on your chest or around the neck, and doing something in the name of Christianity does not make one a follower of Christ or His words, just as walking into a garage & making 'motor sounds' does not make one a car...

You mean like a civil 'Absolute?!'

Public cursing in front of others esp children is uncivil behavior---go hang around the Jr. HS where you will be accepted as 'normal'

The base nature of man is 'self.' Man wants control and his way...and the carnal love of man is "I love Me and want you.' Only in certain circumstances is charity given over the benefit of self.

Then the question arises, "Are Americans becoming more sociopathic---and hedonistic?!

Personally, Yes, but raising the awareness and sounding the alarm are scriptural!

    BTW, on a personal note:
One can put all their trust in one's self and hope for 'luck' and see where that leads them in this life--to a 'restful' place of peace & joy?! Or just a life of 'striving against the wind?!' Workaholics never get to a place of resting from their works, they just stay 'busy'! Obsessiveness does not yield peace.

Hope some of this gets thru "w/o the caning!" [IMG]

That is only a belief. Why do folks think it is absolute truth. You have no evidence to absolute truth. Muslim God is just as great as your God. Actually, both are the God of Abraham, so they are the same God.
The differences lie in how one achieves this eternal good life.

The bible says slavery is ok. Actually, it recommends it.
So we have to have slavery to conform.

The dude believes the flood to be literal. Probably about 4500 yrs ago. You aren't gonna show him no differences. Unless you have a picture from then. And still that could be difficult to convince.

Maybe. I think when one dies, the belief dies with them. As of now, spirits are not confirmed as a real entity. Unless spririt = energy. As energy can not be created or destroyed.

Just like you to not even give consideration to the accuration of the cut measurements comparing one stone to another. As for the Eskimos... As cold as it gets in that north country, a fellow could build a dome house out of anything as long as there was water available to wet the building material. Not a real challenge. Not freezing while doing the building was the real challenge for the Eskimos.

(something that your common stone age eskimo figured out)[/QUOTE]

Not really. Actually, hardly. People were bad before Jesus, during Jesus, and they got worse after Jesus. Christianity, in whole, is after Jesus and the religion has been used to kill, plunder, and extort millions. Fast forward to today, and you have people sticking their nose in other women's wombs telling them what they can and can't do with their own body or children. You have them in the education system telling people what they can and cannot teach. You have them in politics deciding which people can be married, which people are people, and describing themselves as the universal benchmark of morality. Fair to say, all religions are like this, but the reason why people pick on Christianity more is because it is the largest and most visible.

Indeed. If you were to count the people who actually live like Jesus- devoting your life to helping people, wherever they are, even if you had to walk; to caring, understanding, and forgiving all people; to non-violence- even those few things alone, you would likely not find one. One. Indeed, by definition, Christianity can't be blamed because the only real Christian died on his cross.

I agree with this...partially. It's complicated to say, but there have been societies not ruled by greed and self-sustenance. Usually the ones that remain small, like hunters and pre-urban civilizations. These people tend to be very close, rely, and depend on one another, raise one another, and the such. Not perfect, no, but much, much better than advanced civilizations powered on hoarding wealth, resources, and projecting force, brutality, and systems of control. So even though we are all in it for ourselves, there is such a state where one man defends, protects, and cares for another. really hard to explain...and I'm amateurish anyway...

Hard to say. I think it's always been like this. It's just more technology and accumulated knowledge and studies overtime give you more pieces to play with.

Sounds more natural. Animals do it also.

There may have been a flood, actually, but as to the causes of why...well...that's different. You'll never convince people because I think everyone wants to believe in the fantastic. Even I, an atheist, would like for their to be angels and aliens and the like because it brings more colors to existence. It broadens the possibilities for me in this life and the next. I know better than to trust people, but I want to trust people. I would like for everyone to be good and happy. Religion takes all these good desires and ambitions, bottles them up, and sells them to people. "Everything good you want and desire, now in ChristiCoke. Now available in Catholic, Lutheran, or Protestant. Results may vary..."
