It is funny, I just saw this thread and wanted to point out that Scott could never get the Republican nomination because the GOP has been taken over by racists – oops, I mean white “nationalists.”

But I didn’t have to say that because it’s self-evident from all the Trumpublicans’ own posts!

Who called America irredeemable? I think he's confusing America with the deplorables. It would be surprising if he won the republican primaries. I would be surprised partly because the first time we had a black president, republicans went off on a crazy birther conspiracy thing which seemed to be driven by racism.

That's why we count votes instead of opinions.

Why does it have to be about making people fear?

I wish it was more about making people feel optimistic.

Yes, Tim Scott is on my short list of Republican presidential candidates. The trouble is, the Trumpists are in the primary vote driver’s seat. They have a huge lead over DeSantis, and everyone else is in the single digits.

It will probably take one more election to get Trump out of the American political system. Win or lose, I hope that we will be done with him. Unfortunately the CNN Trump town hall only solidified his lead. The progressives are angry at CNN for giving him a platform, but there might have been a reason for that. The Democrats perceive that Trump is the easiest Republican to beat, and this town Hall gave him a huge boost.

In the current atmosphere, there is little reason for optimism. The imperial Biden presidency is more out of control than Richard Nixon ever thought was possible during his reign as “sovereign” as he called himself after he left office. Biden now has control over some of the most private decisions in your life including cars, dishwashers, kitchen ranges, light bulbs and refrigerators. Biden has the Justice Department and FBI doing his bidding. These are dangerous time for freedom and democracy.

Doubtful. Her remarks about age were aimed at Trump too.

Tim Scott is in a better position than you might think
    Opinion by David Byler

For many Republican politicians, the quickest path to power and money is to court controversy on TV. Donald Trump, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, Matt Gaetz and other GOP firebrands have all launched their political careers by spreading conspiracy theories, demonizing opponents and hogging as many headlines as possible. Even Republicans with establishment roots — such as Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis — have learned how to grab donations and attention by exploiting explosive culture-war issues.

Tim Scott has a different playbook. The South Carolina senator, who is expected to join the 2024 Republican presidential race later this month, has quickly built a national profile and a cash surplus by earning media attention — not through controversy, but through compromise. That strategy has made him the strongest candidate of the GOP’s second tier.

Scott has been in Congress since 2011, but he mostly flew under the media’s radar until Trump took office. At that point, Scott started gaining coverage for steering his party on racial issues and test-driving an optimistic message. . . .

I am sorry to tell you, 60% republican thinks anyone who is not Trump is RINO. Every person jumps in to race divide the other 40% vote. We saw how that turn out in 2016 primary.

You want someone other then Trump, then everyone must drop out and rally around only one candidate. Unfortunately, those who run for POTUS they are too uppity to drop out. Tim has ZERO chance winning nomination, Nikki H has ZERO chance winning the nomination, Mike P has ZERO chance winning the nomination, they are just making sure Trump is the nominee.

If Republicans really wants at least a chance to win 2024, all should drop out and rally around someone like Asa Hutchinson. I don’t agree with his politics but the last interview I saw, he sounded like the traditional conservatives from late 90s.

Truth is GOP has ZERO chance winning WH in 2024. Even if you nominate a moderate GOP, you still have Trump problem. Trump will not go away quietly. Whomever is GOP nominee, he/s has to fight with Biden and Trump same time.

Traditional conservatives need to forget about 2024 or 2026 and start re-building GOP for 2028. Post Trump/ Post MTG GOP which can bring new voter to the party.
