The Resurrection and the Death of Atheism

The Bible talks about people having a sinful nature.

 

The nature of something has nothing to do with free will, the nature of something is that which is inherent in it. Inherent, put there by your god! Your god could of created mankind without a sinful nature and still given him free will, try thinking rather that reciting.

So it was put there by your god.

 

They never think about the contradictions they believe, if you question them they really cannot cope with it and just reply with woo woo from their magic book.

 

“Then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and have compassion on you and gather you again from all the nations where He scattered you.” (Deuteronomy 30:3)

 

And of course there is no sin in heaven so does that mean there is no free will?

 

I'm not accusing anyone of past bad acts. And, I know there are individuals and that individuals can behave amazingly poorly. So, I'm not asking for an explanation.

What I want to point out is that there is a very important part of Christianity that I as an atheist see as incredibly important today.

And, that needs to get increased focus.

We need to see Christianity stand up against white supremacy, against the treatment of minorities and strangers, etc. We need to see Christians demand that black lives are equally valued. We need to see Christians pushing for solutions to the abject poverty of those living under tents and tarps, even before the economic devastation of the pandemic, while the wealthy got far wealthier even faster than normal throughout this pandemic. The story of the rich man who asked how to get to haven comes to mind. We need to see Christians pushing to ensure that Americans have the high quality health care that the rest of us enjoy - even if they aren't rich enough to purchase high priced "insurance" from corporations who profit from this problem.

Jesus directly addressed the need for focus on these issues. He even stated the penalty for failure.

I'm not attacking your religion. Perhaps Christianity should be give serious credit for having a person such as Jesus.

I just want the action that should be expected, as I believe in these issues, too.

 

You can't be perfect with free will. God doesn't want us to be perfect, God wants us to do better.

Yes you can, if you are you end up in heaven, but of course that contradicts the other stories in your magic book.

 

and a Christian also told me God makes you forget about your loved ones that go to hell, cause if you know what he was doing to them you would be sad.... I said that sounds like brain washing to me

 

The Bible was written by over 60 different authors and has the same theme of God's love for His creation, just nature, and holiness.

 

God gave us the ability to chose between right and wrong.

God isn't to blame for the mistakes that we make with our free will.

 

The fall of the angels was the only time that there was sin in heaven.

 

No one knows you wrote most of the bible, so why are you telling untruths?

 

Jesus came for spiritual reform, not for social reform.

 

Again free will and our nature have nothing to do with each other, but keep convincing yourself that the answer someone gave you stands up to questioning!

It pleases God when we strive for perfection even though we could never reach it.
