I don't think God is looking for perfect people, but people who are going to seek Him. You also have to strive.

I'm pointing out that according to Matthew (and the testimony of the life of Jesus, frankly) Jesus states a demand that goes beyond "seeking him".

And, I am interested in that other set of requirements, as to me they form a philosophy that should apply to us all. And, I would say there could be much better focus on those requirements.

 

Churches have many false teachings. The Catholic Church teaches salvation by works, many nondenominational churches have charlatans doing hocus pocus. Matthew 24:11

They have nothing to do with what God intended.

 

Christians create this atheist strawman because they cannot accept that people do not believe in their imaginary god because of lack of evidence. You could not back up the claims you made about the historical evidence for Jesus. It is incredible that anyone really believes the rubbish Christians come out with.

 

The arrogance that if there was a god you would have any idea of what he intended is mind boggling, you would have less knowledge of a gods intent than a flea has of the dog it lives on.

 

There is a God. Everything in nature has an order and a purpose. There's no other explanation for that other than there is a God. Everyone knows that God exists. But because we all have free will, some people choose to suppress that knowledge so that they can follow their own desires.

 

It's common sense that a lot more is expected from spiritual leaders than anyone else. Churches who preach the prosperity gospel don't preach repenting every week, they don't talk about loving one another-they focus on hocus pocus.

Christianity is not declining around the world at all. In fact among the Christian denominations that are global in reach with the exception of the LDS, the portion of their membership in the USA is small.

What Catholics may or may not believe about the requirement of faith isn't relevant here.

I'm saying that the requirements laid out by Jesus in Matthew 25:31-end are given inadequate attention even though Jesus is quoted as stating that the penalty is everlasting hell.

If you agree here, we could go on to how we can work together on policy issues related to those requirements Jesus laid out.
