Fair nuff. Get the word out about the cobalt mines and see if they change their tune. As I understand it, Musk/Tesla is leading the charge (pun not intended I swear) in alternative battery stabilizer technology.

More defense of child labor and toxic poison of a population working in primitive conditions damaging the environment.

It is the democrats who close access to mining that material here where it can be done much more cleanly and safely by American workers. Not to mention their preference for slave /prison labor making the product rather than American workers whether it’s for batteries or solar panels or wind mill turban blades…,Far better to exploit people of color around the world than let Americans in the middle of the country do it.

Not buy an electric car anytime soon….advocate for mining the resource here by American workers in a safe and far superior environmentally sound manner.

Agreed and some of this is the fault of regional politics, some the grinding poverty forcing child labour and some the big internationals making obscene profits

    Word is out

Those who are really invested are looking to alternatives to Cobalt but that is not really the solution

We could mandate all cobalt-containing products be labeled with a 'product of child labor' sticker.

Are you going to give up everything running on Lithium batteries?

How about, and I know this is a huge ask, we support initiatives that will help make those peoples lives BETTER? Would that not be a Christian thing to do?

Or demand that companies source cobalt responsibly - see the paper I linked to in the above post

Well sure. But most people don't even know about it, so they don't know to 'demand' (purchase discriminately) anything.

I bet anything with a 'product of child labor' sticker would suffer drastic demand reduction.

Seems we have a fair bit of cobalt in reserve - and looking for more

There is 4 cents worth of cobalt in an iphone, specifically 10 grams. The total materials cost for an iphone comes in at around $450 and add another $30-50 in labor for their more high-end models. I got rid of mine because it was just too creepy to keep. Some people like those features. I thought it was weird that it was just giving me random information about people. It felt like the more I used it, the more random information it was going to be giving to other people about me.

Well, not sure about that as the republicans in Iowa seem to have no issue with it

What initiatives do you advocate that Australia should do to improve their lives?

And thats part of the problem right there. Pretending emancipated teenagers making prevailing wage part time with proper PPE and OSHA regs is at all similar to kids mining cobalt barefoot under armed guard for a bowl of rice a day isnt helping anyone. But hey, lets put a sticker on the stuff they make too. Theres no such thing as too much informed consent. Thats the only real way we'll find out whats ethical and what isnt- people will vote with their dollars and the shady **** wont make money ...if people know about the shady ****.

    sigh!

You didn’t watch the video did you? Apparently the bit about WHS was conveniently left out of the legislation so the kids would NOT be covered

I really hope this does not pass

I dont how that would even be possible. Unless they'd all be working as self-employed subcontractors with their own individual business liscences or something (which I dont think is possible for minors) then what you call WHS already automatically applies whether its in the legislation or not.

And what are you, personally, going to do about this?
Stop buying mobile phones or anything with a battery?
Research what products contain cobalt and stop buying them?

Or is it enough for you to find something bad happening somewhere in the world and and blame it on “the left”?

I await your announcement saying that you have become a member of the Amish community. I'm not sure how you will do that though as the means to do it will have been given away
