Christmas is based on the Roman Holiday of Saturnalia, and was ONLY made into a Christian Holiday in order to please Roman converts. Many Chrismas traditions, such as Christmas trees, ginger bread men, and heavy binge drinking were also taken from Saturnalia.

I only Celebrate the Birth of Jesus. Get over it. The Christmas holiday as seen in the US here has nothing to do with being christian. Just the giving and helping part.

Do you think i'm a 12 year old boy or something? I don't need you to educate me. I knew this before you did. Do you drink wine? because if you do, then you are a filthy liar and a hypocrite if you do. WINE represents the blood of Jesus.

I was wondering myselve one day why monks of the catholic church were baptizing red indians in masses with fire hoses in those days. Why? And then I understood that a christian had some little rights in this days - a red animal had no rights at all. I guess this was the birth of the idea that inalienable human rights have to become written laws. Monks and priests reported a lot in very hard words about the unbelieveable crimes - while politicians and states even introduced new forms of slavery. The gold price in Europe crushed down what caused pogroms against Jews and so on and so on ... a time full of desasters ....

On the other side: Today are existing people who are trying to call abortion (= the right to kill a human being in its mothers womb) a human right what is also without any logic. I don't have any idea how we could baptize this babies in their mothers womb to give them the right to be seen as human beings. I'm quite sure in the future the people will become very heavy psychological problems when they will realize that their ancestors were such ugly brutal barbars without any intelligence as we are today.

It is likely because you were taught Christianity at an age younger than 12 that you believe it now.

This is true for religious folk in all cultures.

Jesus turned the water into wine at the wedding .. I do not think that wine represented his blood.

It is the ritual of the Eucharist that transforms the wine. Normal wine has no such bloody properties.

All Lies. I became a christian at the age of 26. I grew up going to catholic school. I did my communion and used to go to a catholic church all the time. Stop stereotyping people. WINE has always been related somehow with blood. it's even in a lot of vampire stories that go way back.

Christopher Colombus was a stupid suicidal man. He had no chance to reach India. It was also in his days well known that the earth is a globe with 25000 miles circumference. This idiot even started to murder red indians.

Water was often dirty and full of germs - even if it looked clear. If someone drank wine in those days then he was sure that he could not become sick. Wine was healthy. Today maybe he would turn wine into water and the people would be astonished that they are able to have a lot of fun without alcohol.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who is not able to understand what you like to say with such a contradiction. The stories about vampires are by the way only stories - written just for fun.

No - although it is one of the shortest ways to be called an idiot I ever saw. You would personally know nothing about Jesus Christ if no one had told you something about Jesus Christ.

the roman catholic church decied to take pagan beliefs and twist them to suit their wants/needs...that is why xmass has a religious "meaning" to it. In reality "jesus" ( a gay character in a fairytale book) has nothing to do with ANYTHING.

You are hating the catholic church - you are hating pagans - you are hating fairy tales - and you are hating gay men. What do you love?

I said Likely you were taught at a young age. Do they not teach Christianity in Catholic school ?

I do not think that wine has always, and in all instances, been related with blood.

Certainly not all wine is related to the blood of Christ.

You called the man you hate most "gay". You did this not because you liked to give him the image of a holy person. By the way - did I ever say that there's no need for a "coming out" of gay people? Lots of gay people become very unhappy after their "coming out". That's maybe because everywhere in the world are people existing who don't have any problem with gays at all - how you said.

    Why?

Nonsense. Wine has been around since long before Jesus, Christianity, and vampire stories - by thousands of years.

    Deuteronomy 32:14 New International Version

"with curds and milk from herd and flock and with fattened lambs and goats, with choice rams of Bashan and the finest kernels of wheat. You drank the foaming blood of the grape."

    Let's drink blood! Grape blood

First, the quote "wine is the blood of the grapes" from your link may or may not have been used with the Biblical reference in mind. However, in either case, it is just a metaphor, as the article is about the effects of wine on the cardiovascular system. Second, I don't really see the point of this reply.

In a Christian context, of course wine is representative of the blood of Jesus (and possibly something similar in some other religions), but in any other context, it's just an alcoholic drink. Wine has been produced for at least 4 times as long as Christianity has existed. This pre-dates all recorded history. How then, could his claims possibly be taken seriously?

i do me and you do you, thats all it has to come down to. if ya dont like christmas then dont celebrate it,you dont have to try to ruin it for everyone else because you are a grinch.

everyone has their own thing on christmas, just like on thanksgiving. i dont really care what you, your friends and your family do on christmas, i only care about me and mine and sorry but we like to celebrate it and acknowledge it our way.

there are seriously worse things to worry about that trying to make people hate christmas and turn all anti christian.
