The United States Of Deceit

It really isn't very difficult to understand why our country is so incredibly corrupt. Let's just consider lying, our [seemingly] national pastime [although eating, drinking, drugging, swearing, masturbating, and being obsessed with one's favorite electronic devices are all neck and neck and neck and neck and neck and neck].

And I'll just offer one example [although there are literally a million of them], but this one I believe is truly telling because it is something that affects our children directly.

Like it or not, professional athletes are often held as role models for many kids immersed in the world of sports. Although sports are not as popular today with kids as they used to be, millions of small people [and many more adults...including myself] find themselves glued to the tv watching their favorite teams and players engaged. Here's the problem...

In all sports, it is perfectly acceptable for players to "pretend" as if they caught the ball [baseball or football], or "pretend" as if they were fouled while taking a shot [basketball], or any of other theatrics professional athletes have perfected in an attempt to secure an unfair advantage. Nobody says anything about this. It's perfectly acceptable. Completely obvious lying for all to see...no problem at all.

So the next time you buy a car and leave wondering just how the dealer ripped you to shreds, or arrive at the emergency room and leave with your bank account cleaned out, think about where these people learned that deceiving other people was perfectly ok. Hell, one of these days, they'll probably be telling us that you can [literally] be anything you want!

 

In England, we do frown upon how Italians particularly like to cheat at soccer, be that diving or faking an injury. I'm not anti Italian but they are by far the worst at this.

Idont watch American sports so I can't say how deceitful they can be in sports.

I wouldn't say sports have infected our political discourse as much as entertainment wrestling. Wholesale lying in that "sport" is known as kayfabe.

That's right, nobody has ever been taken advantage of buying a car, and nobody is ever financially hammered after a trip to the ER in the U.S., and kids never learn anything from watching sports.

I never claimed no one has been taken advantage of buying a car. What I did say was anyone who has been taken advantage only has themselves to blame.
You originally claimed peoples bank accounts have been cleaned out from going to ER. You’re now backtracking and changing your claim to “financially hammered”. Which is very different.
I never claimed kids don’t learn anything from sports. Kids learn lots of things. I learned many things from playing sports. No one learns to be deceitful in life from playing sports. It’s asinine to claim such a thing.

Considering the number of people that have virtually no savings in this country, how much of a bill do you think might wipe out the average person's bank account?

Yes because some clubs and individuals refused. About 80% did and some black players didn't also so there wasn't alot of pressure because for those that didn't, the received no back lash.

 

You are a doctor, a provider. I am an engineer. My employer provided the insurance that paid you. I paid nothing. It was part of my compensation... like salary and vacation, et al. Golf is the only professional sport I watch and only sporadically. You are competing against yourself, the weather, gravity & physics. That it is.
