"The Walking Dead" - Does anybody else watch it?

OMG, I love this show. It'll hurt to have to wait for fall when it returns...bookmarking this thread.

Zombie pets....lol. Strategically brilliant.

 

The only reason high action levels work in movies is because it's an hour and a half long. If mad max were a TV show there'd be a LOT less action and a LOT more drama.

Suspense and character development sells a TV show. Action sells a movie.

I admit the show could have moved faster in the first half. But not by much.

 

Here is my analogy to "The Walking Dead" plot line...

These folks bicker and squabble like a bunch of panty waists...instead of building "technicals." Bolting a heavy machine gun to the back of a pick-up truck...
Up-armoring their cars. C'mon this is Georgia, there's plenty of gun stores to raid...

 

You're looking into it too much. A single man with a .270, crate of ammo, and a sack lunch sitting in a secured elevated position could take out a city of zombies by himself. But then we wouldnt have a awesome zombie show.

 

Hey Trin, I agree....I think I may watch from the beginning again this summer. I want to especially watch the ones with the CDC. I want to remember what exactly the doctor said.

I don't understand....they have no arms, but can they not still bite? Maybe she removed their teeth too?

What do you suppose the building is over the horizon? And, do you think there will be others there?

 

Did you see Boondock Saints? He was great in that movie. I love him too!

 

I think that's my main issue. Folks are getting picked off one at a time by the walkers.

At some point you would think...hey these small Georgia towns often have gun shops...

They seem more worried about condoms than surviving the zombie hordes...and these are slow walkers, I agree a scoped weapon and an ammo crate could clear a town out in no time.

 

I would have thought that in any kind of apocalyptic scenario a gunshop would have got cleared out faster than a supermarket...

I don't understand why they haven't hit a hardware shop.

I agree it is brilliant strategically but I wouldn't be able to sleep at night...

I thought it looked like a large industrial school but I think it is a jail.

 

Also the helicopter at the start of the last episode would seem to indicate that Rick wasn't hallucinating at the start of the first episode.

So maybe their is still some kind of government/army presence in the country. I don;t know who else would bother to fly a helicopter into a zombie infested city. Alot of effort just to sight see...

A prison....that's what I was thinking or an armory. Either way there might be weapons. I think people too. Would make it interesting if they were all criminals in there. Especially for the women!

 

I haven't seen all the shows, but I recall a scene with abandoned military vehicles.

You can scavenge from those munitions...heck one scene had an abandoned tank..

They will run on regular diesel fuel not just JP-8...you can siphon gas from the many abandoned trucks...

What can stop a tank?

I'm not saying that millions of walking zombies will be wiped out by a group of 10 or so people, but I don't see actual "survival" as a priority with these folks...they wait for stuff to happen to them instead of being pro-active.

It's character driven, yes I understand that...

 

It's definitely a prison. That's where they go directly after the farm in the comics.

They're going to find while a prison is very safe against Zombies it's also very prized real estate to any stranded wanderer. And many are willing to use force to take it.

 

It disproves the well publicised theory that if you have the right to bear arms, you are safer than unarmed people ....

In the Scottish show, a wee jakey ned single-handedly wiped them out after a few pints, just using the Glesga Kiss.

 

How many MPG do you get from a tank?

You would need a lot of abandoned trucks. and to stick to major roads.

 

To be completely honest fears of a zombie apocalypse are softening my stance on gun control.

Well it's pretty obvious if you think about it, but in a Zombie Apocalypse the countries that have the most firearms spread out among the population would have the best chance of making it.

So basically, Switzerland, Israel, and the US.

 

And the least population density.

And Islands.

Or cold.

Or where people tend to live in compounds.

Zombie apocalypse not really likely though. And as I hate exercise and am very unfit I will probably die quickly. So no point in worrying

 

Well yes, I would agree that a Zombie Apocalypse is "not really likely." Among all the ways the world could end that that would have to be pretty far down the list

I doubt Islands would be much protection. It didn't help in Dawn of the Dead. Freezing weather could freeze the walkers for the winter though...

...don't have the big game temperament there. That fear thing is a handicap. But your hunting experience and huge obsession with weaponry might save you...

 

I have a terrible fear of a zombie apocalypse.

Silly and irrational I know. But very real.
