In the last quater , Perry collected 17 million Romney 14 Cain 3. That pretty much says it all. Romney is stuck At 25%. He will end it at 25%. Cain is not a serious cadidate, He is in it for the publicity so he can sell his book. He has no organization in Iowa or New hampshire. He put his campaign on hold before the last debate so he could go on a book tour and sign books. He was as shocked as the press by his rise to the top in the polls. He is now acting like a candidate, but when you look at the money he is raising. The Republicans are not going to put a black at the top of the ticket, nuff said.
The Republicans were not happy with John McCain in 2008, but they were not going to give it to Romney then, and they will not this time either. That leaves Perry.
Perry , The worst has already come out about him and hurt him in the polls. 3/4 of republicans don't like Romney for whatever reason. As Newt, Backman, Huntsman, Paul, and the rest drop out for lack of money after Iowa and New Hampshiure, It heads South were Perry will win . He might not be a good debater, but he is an excellent speaker, and will be slowly picking up steam as the anti- Romney voters move over to him. He hs a lot of support, The Christians in the South, The Conservatives, The Tea party, Even Rush will back him over Romney. Unless he really screws up, I don't see how he can lose it. He will pick Marco Rubio of Florida as his running mate if he will take it. If you can carry Texas and Florida along with the hard red states, you WIN.

This comming from a liberal democrat, I dont have a horse in this race.I understad some of you have a candidate you like or hope will win. But Perry has the money to do it. Most important, Perry has Charissma( can't spell it but he has it) Perry WINS

Good comments! I have been saying much of the same for several weeks, and I'm a Conservative. Perry's recent discussion of the need to begin to become energy independant will start to soak in as being more encompassing and important than a lot realize. The "perception" that we will start to get serious about the energy problem will have a very positive benefit.

Perry has to avoid pitfalls, and if he does, he will likely be the next President.

We went out on a limb and made a predicitation that goes against the current polling. All you did was make fun of one of the candidates. If your so smart who do you think will win? OR, will you wait til its obvious and then pick the winner and say, I knew it all along.

Perry won't win Iowa, New Hampshire or Florida.

    Game, set, match.

Perry has charisma? Wow, but I'm not surprised that coming from a lib. Perry blew his wad the first night of the debates. He looks like he's competing for the deer in the headlight award. The guy has nothing and has no clue how to frame his debates, let alone bring something worthwhile to the table...like an economic plan for instance. Obama would eat this rookie alive with the one-on-one debates, while a Romney win blow obot away hands down.

Look, Romney is going to be the Republican nominee, so just face it and carry on from there. I'm not all that happy with Romney's moderate views on things, but I'll take them over Perry's weak and indefensible take on border security and the immigration process. Perry isn't much different than obama in that he looks to create sanctuary cities throughout Texas for all of those illegals who evidently do have a heart--unlike the heartless citizens of Texas and our nation who know better than to support criminality.

So its going to be Romney and perhaps Rubio or Cain for the Veep spot. See how easy that was? Believe me when I say the libs fear a Romney, but get all giddy with the prospect of a Perry nomination, because they know obama would handedly win against an upstart like Perry.

OK ,Libhater, Glad to get you on the record here because one of us will be eating our words in a few months. I don't think it will be me. I just hope more of your conservative friends weigh in. I don't think most of them care to go out on a limb like we did because they lack kahunas.

Time will tell, but I think Perry will pull it out. A lot of it depends on how he is treated by the conservative media.

If I am correct, that will make me smarter than you, but I'm not sure that will be a great accomplishment. :)

Anyone that goes by the title of birddog would probably have a hard time accomplishing much of anything in life, let alone claiming to be smarter than a dog or a bird.

I cant say much..a lowly gopher represents my state...and my avatar says it all.

Smart enough to pick a winner ?

Now if only the Vikes would crush the lowly BEARS and I bet Obama's house on the game in Vegas. :)

    A win/win !
Even if the bears get lucky and win.

At least I don't HATE anyone, even liberals. I hate most of their ways, but not the person.

In some ways, my Llewellin Setter may be smarter than some around here, including you. :)

If any of the other candidates have half a brain.. they can rip Perry's "Oil is the answer to everything" message to shreds. Its a stupid premis whe you understand that the 3% of oil that we do have is sold on the world market. There is no such thing as "american oil" once it comes out of the ground, it becomes a commodity in the world market that goes to the highest bidder.. If Perry wants to lend a little reality to his message then he is going to have to be a proponent of nationalizing the Oil, coal, natural Gas industries in the U.S
If you think that the opposition has revealed all Perry's dirty laundry.. wake up.. he is running against other republicans.. they are trating each other with kid gloves.. he wont get that leeway from out of party opposition. I hope he runs.. he cant win. If Romney runs Obama will lose.

As an independent voter.. I would vote for Obama over Perry if I had a gun to my head.. and I would vote for Romney over Obama..It sucks that those are the only choices.

Liberal Democrat here and I agree with your assessment as well.

His biggest problem will be the fact that he definitely conjures images of Bush, which will scare most independents. I think it's still too soon for another Texas Governor.

If Obama can keep North Carolina and Virginia again he can still do it. Both are a big maybe, but he is holding the convention in NC so that'll be a nice boost. If he grabs NC, FL is nowhere near as important.

A lot of that can be accomplished with executive orders. Also, perception will affect the policies of OPEC.

Nothing is certain yet-far from it. Once the bottom tier drops out and we can see who picks up their supporters, we'll have a better idea. Like a lot of conservatives, I cannot get behind Romney yet because he's not yet explained to us how his healthcare for Massachusetts was different from Obamacare. After all, Obama and his team actually met with Romney's guys and patterned Obamacare after it. How do you think he will be able to go up against Obama in a debate on that issue?

Perry could emerge through all this-but he needs to get better at expressing himself. I'm liking Gingrich better and better. But again- we're not even close yet to getting a consensus.
