The problem in America regarding gun control is that every state has different attitudes, therefore no-one will
ever legislate for the entire country...Obama certainly wont pass blanket legislation for the entire country...
In any case if you look at a place like New York, with 9 million people, speaking 800 different languages,
all crammed into 308 square kilometres, is it any wonder that there is gun violence.
You people are your own worst enemies.......
I say CC permits for everyone, (except criminals and people under 21) together with a blue armband, which must be worn at all times......
Then the crims don't know if you're carrying or not....would a crim hold up a liquor shop if he walked
in and all he saw was blue armbands.....I think not.....

I think in the few seconds that a crim would pause to think "is he/are they carrying"??... the opportunity to commit
a crime might suddenly be gone, and lives would be saved...and of course many people would not be carrying...
just wearing the armband...fight fire with fire....well something like that.....

I doubt about this website ( http://www.worldlifeexpectancy.com/cause-of-death/violence/by-country/) , but there is difference in violence here in United States and in other countries. African countries are given higher level on this website. Violence in Africa is purely on ethnic basis. People are not killing people on the streets.
People have no fear in their neighborhoods. Same is the case in Arab and Asian countries, violence is not personal violence, it is ethnical, racial or on religious basis and happens at certain times of the year. India gets the communal riots during the holy months of muslims. Indonesia have also the same issue, in certain months they get the violence because some religious groups want to show their power.

I doubt a dead person feels any better about having been killed because they were killed for religious reasons. There is no fundamental difference in killing someone because they are in a rival street gang than in killing them because they are in a rival religious sect.

    Um no.

The arguments against gun control are much stronger, smarter and supported by more.

Life is unsafe and unsecure no one has the right as you claim to a certian type of life. Life is what you make of it and the right to protect that life yourself is the most basic of all human rights.

Do you have any concept, and I believe it is evident you don't, between a democracy ( mob rule ) and a representative republic?

Maybe i don't have any philosophical reasoning for this, but what i am trying to explain is, government is a part of the people, people have to own it. Sometimes you like the decisions of the government, sometimes you don't like the decisions of the government then people make advocacy groups, another beautiful part of democracy. So my point is this is an ongoing part of human evolution.

Yes. . .those who revolted against the BRITISH government. . . and BECAME the government, with an army, weapons, police. . .which allowed this country to develop away from the "wild wild West" mentality. . .until recently that is!

Life is made MORE insecure by the number of gun carrying crazies in this country.
And I believe that you are wrong. I believe that a majority of people WANT more gun control, and that majority is growing every time there is a new senseless shooting and another child dies by "accident" because of a gun.

Well the current approach isn't working...and lets face it...I'm a little skeptical of arming everyone and letting them shoot it out.

The simple truism is gun control has not kept one person, who truly wanted a firearm, from acquiring one.

    "Until recently" you say.
I was talking with a gun store owner from Helena Montana today who had attended the SHOT show in Las Vegas. I asked him if he had found anything "good" in there? He said that he had placed some orders for AR-15's and ammo.
I asked him how long he'd been in the biz. He said "about 30 years". So I asked him to think about how things were, 30 years ago. In those days, the average shooter in Helena Montana was interested in single action big bore revolvers, and bolt action rifles with wooden stocks. .22 rifles of all flavors were mostly for casual shooting at dirt clods and cowpies, or limited varmint control.
Somewhere between then and now, MSM has worked very hard to demonize guns in general. That has worked differently than the MSM and the *******s had in mind. It has helped to instill the idea in the minds of many that guns are indeed evil, and therefore, they are the means by which evil things are done. We simply didn't have mass shootings before this campaign of demonizing got going. We had that guy in the tower in Texas, who used a .243 bolt gun, but that was about it.
My point is that it has been the very campaign to demonize firearms that has been carried through by ******* politics and ******* media that has resulted in the production of so many "demon guns" as we have now.
The goofy thing is that the AR-15 in the attached image is a "sporting rifle", that would be common in places where people shoot varmints at long range. The majority of Americans, and even people all over the world who have been brainwashed by the demonizing campaign don't know that. They see an "Evil Black Rifle"

Well. . .you have been brainwashed by the NRA. . .and Hollywood does less arm to this country than the NRA! At least, in Hollywood, they use fake guns, blank ammunition, and false blood!

I'm very sorry to hear about these people.

Still, a lot of cherry picking is going on here. There are plenty of countries with strict gun control regulations that have a higher crime rate than the US. For example, the UK. There are parts of the UK media whom post up every single incident where stabbing deaths occur. They have politicians raging over the need for "sensible knife control" and who refer to knife owners as a "blight" or as "monsters." Regulating guns just didn't get the results they were hoping for and so now they have people going after the knives.

Montana has always had many guns. . .simple guns, and rifles, for HUNTING.
Montana (the people who are native of Montana) still have the same mentality, although they would LOVE to shoot all those "out of state" A. . H. . . .s who are destroying their pristine, back wood country.

I believe I told you before my husband was born and raised in Darby Montana (the home of the Oklahoma bomber) and still have many friends there, old timers, simple people who have never left their town. Good people who love their rifles because they still count on killing a deer or two to eat in the Winter. .not so much because they NEED to anymore. . .because that is still their way of life.

Most of those old times do not believe or need the NRA . . . and they are not interested in automatic weapons or large amino magazines.

Obviously, the "invaders" (the wealthy people who are buying out hundreds and thousands of acres in that beautiful place) have brought with them the "snobbism" of owning the latest and more powerful guns. . .although many don't know what to really do with them, but they think it's part of "living in Montana!"

I'm not impressed! I would take those good, slightly rough and "simple" Montana native and their rifles anytime over the average gun fanatic in more "developed" cities. At least they have a healthy respect for their fire power. . .not unlike our forefathers!

    WRONG AGAIN!
I posted a link earlier in this thread that shows the REASON why the the UK APPEARS to have more crime that the US. . .but ABSOLUTELY DOESN'T!

It is simply because the UK measures ALL crime (from mild to homicide) under the same category. . .while the US only looks at 4 categories for crime. It is as simple as that.

So. . .I guess I'll have to go back and find that link again to try to provide you with FACTUAL data for a change!

    Here it is:

Montana is a VERY strong NRA State.
It's funny that you say that the intruders are bringing in "more powerful" guns. Very powerful guns are common among locals in Montana, who hunt big critters like Elk, Moose and Bear. What the new comers bring are normally AR-15's and AR-10's. The '15's are normally chambered in .223, which is considered too small for deer. The '10's are normally chambered in .308. It's a decent all-around caliber that's adequate for all N. American game except the big Alaskan Grizzlies.
The locals often prefer things like the 7mm or .300 or .338 Rem. Magnums, which are considerably more powerful than the .308. The reason for using these more powerful calibers is to ensure that the animal is taken in the most humane manner possible, with a minimum of suffering.
It's another part of the disinformation that is carried in the demonizing process which has led people to believe that the "evil black rifles" are more "powerful" because they have larger magazines.
You're right though, that the city slickers don't know what to do with them. They need those larger magazines because they can't be bothered with learning the "hillbilly craft" of marksmanship well enough to make a humane kill with the first shot.

Smacking a guy in the mouth is also classified as a violent crime. It tends not to result in death though.

Of course you can. Your Constitution isn't a directive from God, nor is it written in stone and immutable. Men can, and do, change anything they want. History is testament to that.

The UK and US measurements are almost exactly the same. By the time you have covered murder, manslaughter, robbery and assault, you literally have included pretty much every sort of violent crime there is. Assault is a very broad category.
