It is a big deal, $350 billion dollars is a lot of money, this will certainly alter the balance of power in the region, Iran will need to buy a lot of Russian weapons, they will need to work hard on their nuclear missiles, build and buy lots of boats, helicopters of their own.

Saudi Arabia is already quite a military power, the US has been delivering to them some very sophisticated weapons which they've purchased in significant numbers. Iran is their primary antagonist, there is an irreconcilable ethno-religious clash and Saudi Arabia is the protector of a bunch of small kingdoms around it with the same disposition.

Man in red tie and 'Ivanka bint' Trump are Saudi Arabia's most trending topics
    Aisha Fareed | Published — Saturday 20 May 2017

Ivanka Trump (L) pictured in Riyadh; and the 'mysterious man in a red tie' (R).

RIYADH: US President Donald Trump’s daughter Ivanka has taken Saudi Arabia by storm ever since she disembarked from Air Force One in Riyadh Saturday morning.
The hashtag #Trump’s_daughter, in Arabic, is the top trending hashtag in the country as Twitter fans heaped praise on the first daughter.
Ivanka, who is set to take part in roundtable discussions during the president’s first official visit abroad, wore a long navy dress as she arrived in Saudi Arabia as part of the US delegation.

This is crazy - 'bint Trump' (Trump's daughter) in Arabic is trending no.1 worldwide. They must've confused Melania w/ Ivanka.

Many others posted tweets about over a mysterious man in a red tie who stood behind the couple on the tarmac carrying a Louis Vuitton bag.
“This man in the red tie shouldn’t leave Saudi Arabia!” one woman said.

“Just give me the man in the red tie and throw me in the sea,” another tweeted, while another demanded the identity of the “Red Tie Man” be shared.
“You can have Trump’s daughter, just look at the man wearing a red tie! More handsome than her husband,” another Twitter user said.

He was bowing while he was shaking hands, lol.

Oh you mean that sand dune he bombed.

Didn't N. Korea just fire off a missile Saturday.

Funny that Trump didn't use it in his speech Saturday, why is that?

Wasn't Osama Bin Laden from Saudi Arabia, how many of the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi Arabia.

Yes, but Trump did all the other normal GOP candidates in, and then squelched Hillary, for good measure. Can you be sure, any other candidate would have beaten Hillary, too?

    No way.

    For that I thank Trump.

It is kind of like hanging glittery objects above a baby's crib to keep them from crying.

KSA is an aggressive partner in fighting terrorism and providing intelligence as far back as the bombing of the Khobar Towers. Do didn't see it on film during Trump's visit, but security in KSA is a priority and very tight.

In Saudi culture men of equal stature kiss. Servants and subjects bow.

No they don't.. The gesture is to tap the forehead against the right shoulder.. NO kissing. Servants do not bow.. and I have been around servants and Saudis in Arabia. You are full of beans.

Nope. We've been over this. in 2011 my boss (female) was told the same thing. She was also told she couldn't take the lead on the IOR because a male needed to be the supervisor.

Needless to say, our company dropped that bogus contract. KSA is a human rights disaster. Sad how women are treated there. I'm glad you were able to get out.

After the attack on the Grand Mosque in Mecca in 1979, the Saudis took a big step backwards into stricter Islam. .. and there was a period in the mid 1970s when foreigners outnumbered Saudis by a substantial margin.. Things have loosened up consierably since then. They have also struck down the guardianship for females.

I loved living in Arabia.. Most Americans do and part of the reason is that there is so little crime.

I've cited you the CURRENT laws in KSA many times. Once I do that, you end up just not responding anymore.

Its not current law for non Muslim women although Riyadh is more conservative than Jeddah or the Eastern Province.

Yes, bowing to a king is different than being honored with a medal. The kissing photo is photoshopped, part of a Benneton ad campaign as memory serves.

The Bush photos of him kissing Abdullah weren't photoshopped.. Bush just got bad advice from the WH protocol officer.

So you are a proponent of the death penalty as a deterrent?

That's a deflection but it's what I always receive. I cite the laws of KSA, then I never hear back. Want me to cite current KSA laws?

The laws of KSA aren't codified. Were you posting from wiki?

Yes, that photo is badly photoshopped. Bush and the King did kiss eachothers cheeks as is customary, and can be seen on video as the king initiates, but there was no makeout liplock. Why do you tell lies?

What? I can post from a million sources. Wiki is the first one that pops up? "codified"? That makes no difference as they are royal laws. Everytime I post a source, you NEVER post a counter source, you say things like "well in some areas that's not as enforced as others", yet none the less just using your own words without backing it up. Females, to this day, in KSA must require a male escort. Yes, there may be some areas where they do not, but the sick part is, there are areas where they do.

    And no apologies.

I'm more inclined to believe that some in the "progressive" Cult of Fiasco will be butthurt over the fact that Trump received such a warm reception from the Muslims that Ali Khamenei's **** holster stabbed in the back.

Yes because bowing is a sign of weakness that makes someone look like a fool....

Or you know, it is a sign of respect perhaps?

Obama bowing means as much to me as Trump not bowing
