One former official, not BLM. It's another MAGA lie.

    Is that what they said?

It is for all these reasons that we write to say that the arrival on the US political scene of emails
purportedly belonging to Vice President Biden’s son Hunter, much of it related to his <me
serving on the Board of the Ukrainian gas company Burisma, has all the classic earmarks of a
    Russian information operation.

We want to emphasize that we do not know if the emails, provided to the New York Post by
President Trump’s personal attorney Rudy Giuliani, are genuine or not and that we do not have
    evidence of Russian involvement
-- just that our experience makes us deeply suspicious that the
Russian government played a significant role in this case.

If we are right, this is Russia trying to influence how Americans vote in this elec8on, and we
believe strongly that Americans need to be aware of this.
There are a number of factors that make us suspicious of Russian involvement.

Such an operation would be consistent with Russian objectives, as outlined publicly and recently
by the Intelligence Community, to create political chaos in the United States and to deepen
political divisions here but also to undermine the candidacy of former Vice President Biden and
thereby help the candidacy of President Trump. For the Russians at this point, with Trump
down in the polls, there is incentive for Moscow to pull out the stops to do anything possible to
help Trump win and/or to weaken Biden should he win. A “laptop op” fits the bill, as the
publication of the emails are clearly designed to discredit Biden.

On the contrary, I've voted for conservative candidates and issues over the 50+ years since my first vote.

What I abhor is the thought of millions of my fellow Americans being so bamboozled by a consummate flim flam man that they can't or won't recognize or acknowledge the evil he plans to do if he gets elected again. That's the topic of this thread.

Trump has nothing whatsoever to do with conservative ideology.

Well, while it could in theory further increase representativeness, changing the constitution to remove the EC set up wouldn't actually even be necessary. That's because Ranked Voting is in no way incompatible with the EC. If we didn't want to change too much too fast (or just didn't want to go through the hassle of Constitutional amendment) then we could easily keep the EC system, continue to have states administer elections individually, just have each of those elections be done using Ranked methods rather than Plurality.

That being said, some states would possibly still end up having to modify their individual state constitutions (depending upon how they were written). And obviously we wouldn't want to be making a change like this less than a year from election... but I'd say a 2 or so year lead time ought to be plenty whenever we as a society decide that we want to move in that direction. No need to wait multiple decades for anything. As the saying goes... when considering when to do something needing to be done, there's really no time like the present.

See post at the link below for options regarding how a Ranked Voting method can be combined with the U.S. Electoral College system (take special note of options 2, 3, and 4):

The logic escapes me because it isn't logical. My point is that the system doesn't allow the "right guy" to get into the White House. The political parties provide fame, pretty faces and pretty words without a thought given to competence. I think the last "right guy" to win the presidency was Calvin Coolidge.

Mike Dukakis was a competent guy but the country wanted no part of him because of the smear campaign designed by my name sake. I'd like you to define what you mean by the "system" not allowing competent candidates. Obama was competent and without baggage. Clinton was competent with baggage. I would say George Bush Sr was competent and so is Biden.

I admit when I first heard of this (probably on PF) I was skeptical, but after seeing it work, I admit it is probably the least difficult thing we could do to create more equitable voting, one not based on the lesser evil. However, I don't know what the odds are about adopting it on a federal scale. Something tells me that just like eliminating the EC, forces are conspiring to prevent it too. I know that sounds pretty cynical, but these times....

The system has people vote for individuals instead of ideologies. People aren't good at it. We wind up with politicians, the last people who should be given political power. I like the system the rest of the democracies use better. Then we put the candidates through a process I wouldn't tolerate so the only people willing to run for office are politicians seeking political power. Finally we allow people to "belong" to a political party. Political parties exist for no other reason than to get people elected. Candidates should belong to them, not voters. There is no advantage to having a voter that is loyal to a party. Voters should be loyal to the nation or their state or locality since they are choosing individuals instead of policy.

Competent isn't good enough. We need outstanding people in government. We have had very few outstanding people in government.

So that's a no, you can't cite a source that confirms your original assertion that the Hunter Laptop was "russian disinformation", and now, having been confronted, you now claim, again, unsourced, that "stories about the laptop" were "russian disinformation".... Would that include the letter signed by the 42 intel officials? Inquiring minds want some answers..... LMAO..

.. with a 50/50 shot at winning according to polling numbers. How bad is the current President that he might not beat the hated/indicted Trump?

More importantly why would voters have to choose between these two? Isn't a huge flaw in our electoral system obvious to you?

I never claimed the Hunter laptop was "Russian disinformation," and it would be a lie to say that was my "original assertion." I said there was disinformation ABOUT the laptop. Whoever missed that has no business bragging about having an "inquiring mind."

Yes, run away from your own posting.... So, just to clarify, are you now agreeing that the letter signed by 42 intel officials was actually Russian Disinformation?

Your question, once again, makes no sense and does not address anything I've said. I understand you love your straw man, but it is still a straw man.

If Fox can be sued by Dominion Voting Machines, there is some there, there.
Generally, when Trump goes after someone, they react by going "full speed stupid". After a barrage like this who would admit in public they watch MSNBC but a true Trump hater?

How are 42 US Intel Officers considered Russian coconspirators? That does not make sense.

The Letter signed by 42 former Intel officials may not have had all the information available. Some say the Biden Administration may have exploited the US Intel officials on the Hunter Biden story, but none of that was Russian disinformation at all unless you are willing to say that 42 former US intelligence officials were working with, knowingly or unknowningly, with Russian Agents here in the US and abroad.

As we look at all the socalled evidence against Hunter Biden that really does not add up. Russia is hoping you hinge on the anti-Chinese sentiment that is fomenting in this nation. The Chinese are the next boogeyman now within the GOP conservative movement. So far, you have bank accounts that show money going in and money going out, but no other evidence as to WHY. You dismiss that Hunter Biden was in these countries for business, and then try to make it as "sustained business" only, which is hogwash. You have one, or two FD 1023s. You have had Comer release payments showing a total of 3, count them, 3, payments of $1380 each which it was for payment of a vehicle while trying to claim it was sold as access and Biden had direct knowledge of the business. You had Devon Archer say Hunter Biden sold "an illusion of access" to his clients and partners. An illusion is not real, and it strongly suggests that only Hunter Biden made this and had nothing to do with Joe Biden's direct involvement. And I could go on and on with the exact details of the facts, but why bother because you guys don't listen, don't think, and only react? It is about as bad as an internet conspiracy theory in which several states have left ERIC, which does help people from committing voter fraud. And Voter Fraud is so few, so infrequent, you won't even believe that and dismiss those who have voted twice, especially if they were Republican.

    You may find this interesting:

"The Federal Communications Commission regulates interstate and international communications by radio, television, wire, satellite and cable in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and U.S. territories."

Most people vote for that letter behind the name rather than that individual. That letter behind the name is the idealogy that people vote for in a partisan election from local to federal. Most of the outstanding people in government are career civil servants. They can't, under the Hatch Act, use their position, government equipment, etc to help one candidate or the other. Civil Servants can, however, as an individual contribute to political candidates, volunteer for their campaigns outside of work, volunteer for voter drives, block walking as a volunteer, etc. And yet, it is these very same civil servants who have tried to warn or issue their opinions on what is and what is not acceptable within the government. Yet, the only political party to chastise civil servants has been the MEGA crowd who really don't care what the rules are as long as they get their way no matter the cost. And that is where the real problem lies.

You may want to read what specifics those regulations are on what they can and cannot do. Even if the FCC had their entire board made up of die hard progressives, they cannot pull Fox or Nesmaxx or any other conservative station. So the question is why do you think Trump should do that with MSNBC though? What they do relegate is the Cable rates, not the content.

Fox is being sued because they knew the information they were presenting was false and misleading. Under the NYT v Sullivan Supreme Court Case, there is a higher bar with news organization on what they can be sued for. In addition, Fox settled, out of court with Dominion because it knew it would probably lose the case and face even more hefty fine and punitive damages. But by settling out of court, they can have plausible deniability of guilt and make the necessary changes they need to keep going. You won't have that with opinions by hosts who are commenting on WHAT SOMEONE SAID. For Trump to win against MSNBC or others, Trump would have to prove he never said what they commented on. And since what he said was generally public, such as on his social media page or in a campaign event, then Trump has a very high bar to set to win. Trump does not like high bars for himself to win, does he? And you never going to win a case simply because you don't like what a news organization says. This is why most of what Fox or Newsmax says cannot be sued. But they can be sued if they know it is misleading. We saw this with the Seth Rich case and by Hannity who was spreading false information, or misleading information that was presented.
