Trump: I'd love shutdown if there's no immigration deal

Conservatives do not support amnesty for illegal aliens, but want the implementation of e-verify, punish employers who hire illegals, end benefits for illegals, shut down sanctuary cities. Turn off the benefits and the vast majority of illegals will leave.

The conservative position has been to end the current immigration system and go back to immigration based on the value of the immigrant to the USA, no more illiterate uneducated unskilled low wage workers who are a drain on the nation.

All of that has been blocked by the GOP establishment (they want cheap labor) and the dumbocrats (they want stupid voters).

 

And Obama shut down gitmo. Campaign rhetoric often is overblown but the walls a good idea in key points.

 

True, Congress sucks but for a variety of reasons. Its more a reflection of the R and D Congressional leadership than each Congressman.

Being independent does not mean being in the middle. A lot of people in my community are independents but they are very conservative, they are Ind because the GOP has moved too far to the left. I suspect a lot of Bernie supporters have also become Ind but are on the extreme left.

 

Why do political partisans always see the world in black and white, not it's true living color? Is it because they are simply minded? Just fearful of the true nature of a chaotic world? Do they hate so much they can't see that there are other views?

No, I definitely don't love all. Love and hate are strong emotions. Elie Wiesel once said "The opposite of love is not hate, it's indifference." I agree with that statement. Conversely, the opposite of hate isn't love, it's indifference. Political partisans hate, an emotion that, IMHO, they use to fill their heart since they don't show love. I simply don't give a ****. My ex-wife was an excellent example of a person who believes the person who screams the loudest wins and she took silence as a sign of victory. Political partisans are exactly the same.

In his private life, before he was elected he was corrupt as they come. It will all come out and that is why he is fighting the Mueller investigation. Look at the people that he has surrounded himself with.

 

Agreed about Congress. While I have no doubt you are correct about your community and the fact most Independents do lean Left or right, I strongly doubt most right-leaning Independents are further right than the Republican party. Seeing if there are any studies on it would be interesting. I'll look into it.

Shutting down the government for a year couldn't hurt us nearly as bad as what illegal immigration problems give us in a year.

 

very simple dems. shut the border...stop the flood if illegals and dreamers keep dreaming and the govt stays open. who here has an issue with that?

 

So the choice is to pick illegal immigrants over US citizens, and allow Democrats to blackmail us with that choice then?

 

All he must do it send in the military or some other agency and hire and train more to uphold the laws already on the books. It is the president's responsibility to protect the nation and national interest. He has many means. He doesn't want to do anything. It may easily be so that he doesn't hurt business interests. Why? Probably has a decent reason he believes. Why we can't know what that reason is, I don't understand.

Where the hell are the great reporters?

 

He's making them reveal themselves for what they are.

Besides, as we found with the most recent shutdown, it doesn't have to resemble the shutdown under Obama.

Obama intentionally made that shutdown as painful as possible. Trump won't.

 

Sorry, but that takes an act of Congress. Still doesn't help the military families who, because of budget cuts, rely more and more on civilian facilities and care. Shut down the government, shut down the care so little Johnny isn't covered for his tooth ache and little Susie can stitch up her own head.

Why was a shutdown bad then but good now?

 

Yes indeed we need to protect the nation from farm workers and 7/11 clerks and other such low lives even at the cost of a wall that would cost as must as sending men to Mars or setting up a lunar colony.

 

How? A shutdown is a shutdown.

But if the government is shut down who is patrolling the borders? Shutting down the government is counter productive and very very costly. I'm just not convinced that the general public understands the impact to the country when there is a shutdown.

Negative. The choice is to make it illegal to support illegal immigrants and arrest anyone who hires, harbors or otherwise supports illegals. It's easy. Yes, the Democrats will complain, but so what? They're complaining now.
