Of course not. That didn't happen.
Of course, YOU think it happened. Not surprised, you don't remember what you posted either.

Now that's just a position with nothing behind it. What is the Modern Republican dogma? They can't get out of their own way.

Modern Republican dogma is simple. Oppose anything the Democrats want...even if it's something Republicans claimed they wanted.

    Really? Like what?
What is wrong with the direction of the country? Other than Republican misinformation, what do they have to offer?

Republicans constantly prove they can't get anything done. Not everyone is happy? No, but most are happy.

What he ran on the first time - not being Trump.
    Sad. But true.
If Republicans ran a normal human being instead of a freak, Biden wouldn't stand a chance.
But running against a freak show and clown car like Trump and MAGA makes it a different race.

Biden can also run on the abortion issue, keeping Obamacare and saving the pre-existing condition clause, that his GDP is better than Trump's was,
that unemployment is lower under his administration than it was in Trump's ... even before Covid. And he can run against the hot mess that
was the Trump administration - hell, 90% of Trump's ex-staff have stated that Trump isn't qualified to be in office.

Trump can't run on his record - cause it was mediocre - and he totally screwed up Covid response. All he is running on is Victimhood. And
the the important voters, the Independents, are going to get burnt out on that.

I think Biden is a horrible president, but I don't think Trump will win. The Democrats are the majority party, and they would vote for a ham sandwich over Trump. And, Trump is a lightening rod who will insure that the Democratic voter turnout will be high. Add to that, not all Republicans want Trump. Some of them may vote third party, or they may not vote at all. And then there's the Independents. Independents are about a third of the electorate. No candidate wins without winning the Independents. Trump won the Independents in 2016 by a slim margin. He lost them by a large margin in 2020. We can attribute that to Trump's unpresidential personality. They simply don't like him. Now that may not be a good reason to vote against someone, but that is political reality. I just don't think Trump will win back the Independents. I could be wrong, of course. But my money is on a Trump loss in November, even though Biden is, without question, the worst President we've had in my lifetime (68 years), and his Vice President is as smart as a rock.

It would be interesting to see Trump both go to jail and win the election, and turn his cell into the oval office.

Modern Republican dogma is much the same as it always has been.

If summing it up in one short sentence, I would say that Republican dogma is the government that governs least, and governs best, with the very notable exception of defense spending.

I am not sure why you seemingly have such an aversion to the notion of dogma from either side. It exists, whether, you understand that is of no consequence whatsoever.

Trump is not (NOT) going to win in November. You've touched on some of the background reasons, all of which are generally accurate -- and -- there are more that are crucially important:

    1. Republicans have set themselves up in the minds of a huge number of American women as being in favor of making abortion illegal! The off-year election of 2022 clearly demonstrated, American women go into a flaming, righteous fury at the idea of anything they feel might deprive them of the right to get rid of an unwanted fetus -- and even though the SCOTUS decision to remove 'Roe v Wade' did not (NOT) "make abortion illegal", you can bet that Democrat strategists will use the 'Roe' take-down as a center piece in their campaign against ALL Republicans. After all, it worked so well for them in 2022!

    2. Welfare programs! Loan forgiveness! Government handouts! Government "services"! "Subsidies"! In other words, "UNEARNED FREE STUFF!" These have been Democrats' "stock-in-trade" for over 90 years, beginning with Frankie Roosevelt in the 1930's... and they've been very successful in keep Democrats in power.

So, with ALL of the above to be considered, how exactly does Donald Trump (or any other Republican) get 270 electoral votes this November?! I just don't see it happening....

[IMG]. "They will always vote for free stuff, Lyndon -- trust me!" :cheerleader:

    Hmmm.

As a leftist, you are probably not the best person to espouse Republican ideals, especially after seeing your description. I can assure you that Republicans and Democrats, on the whole, want very different things.

To pretend like they are the same is bereft of reality. That is the type of nonsense that you say to each other in your echo chamber. It is not true. Republicans do not want the same things as Democrats. The differences are stark. To claim they are not is silly.

That would be a hard lesson for our corrupt bipartisan ruling political class, but this election is more likely to follow the Pakistan model.

“In early 2022, in what became known as Lettergate, Khan alleged that the United States encouraged his removal from office. In April, during the ensuing constitutional crisis, Khan became the first Pakistani prime minister to be removed from office through a no-confidence motion. In August, he was charged under anti-terror laws after accusing the police and judiciary of detaining and torturing an aide. In October, Khan was disqualified by the Election Commission of Pakistan from taking office for the current term of the National Assembly of Pakistan, regarding the Toshakhana reference case. In November, he survived an assassination attempt during a political rally in Wazirabad, Punjab.

On 9 May 2023, Khan was arrested on corruption charges at the Islamabad High Court by paramilitary troops who smashed their way into the courthouse. Protests broke out throughout Pakistan resulting in the arrests of thousands of Khan's supporters along with military installations being ransacked. After his release, he blamed the Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir for his arrest. He was sentenced to a three-year jail term on 5 August 2023 after being found guilty of misusing his premiership to buy and sell gifts in state possession that were received during diplomatic visits abroad.[2][3] On 29 August 2023, a Pakistani appeals court suspended Khan's three-year prison term and granted him bail,[4][5][6] but he remained incarcerated in connection with the Lettergate diplomatic cypher, for which he was accused of leaking state secrets and violating the Official Secrets Act.[7][8] On 30 January 2024, a special court sentenced Khan to 10 years in prison after finding him guilty of those charges.[9][10]”

Khan's PTI party is apparently no longer allowed on the ballots.
The RP had better cross its collective little fingers.

Where will Trump find support in the majority? How will he get by Nikki Haley? Trump has got a lot of work cut out for him. We'll see what happens from here.

Where did I say they are the same.
Currently it is the Democrats that are offering solutions. You may not agree with the solutions, I don't agree with all of their solutions
The only things the Republicans are offering, right now, are solutions that have proven not to work (cutting taxes on the rich) and opposition to anything the Democrats offer, including (and this is the extremely hypocritical part) solutions that Republicans have offered earlier. Republicans are now at the point that ANY position is political and it's more important to "stop the Democrats from getting a 'win'" than it is to actually do something.
