Did you not follow the 2016 GOP presidential campaign? He mocked ALL of his opponents back then, and his base cheered him for it. Why would he stop now? It worked for him once, why won't it work again?

Your MAGA base did this. They forgave his bullying behavior for years, or even loved him for it. Now, you have to lie in the bed that you made.

To me, Trump's latest comments make him look like he is not loyal to the Republican party and perhaps is a little bit senile, i.e., with the Asian name "joke." All efforts by Republicans at this time should focus on a message of unity towards getting Herschel Walker elected. I have certainly enjoyed the way Trump trolls the libs, but to be honest, I have always suspected he bacame a Republican as an means to his own end and not because he is a real Republican. He spent money like a drunken sailor and as I have mentioned more than once on PF never entended to control the US border with Mexico. Is is time for Trump to fade away and the party to focus on and promote first Walker, and then DeSantis for the next Presidential run. Trump is the past. DeSantis is the future.

Trump's unhinged, mentally unstable and lacks all self-control.
He's too toxic to realize that he's his own worst enemy.

While I like your thinking, I can't agree. It seems his temper tantrum is well received by his followers and other Republican leaders. What is driving his loss of popularity now is his waning 'star power' when it comes to endorsements. And the (formerly Trump supporting) Republican leaders can use that as their excuse for distancing themselves.

I disliked the neocons for the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, but the biggest reasons being is that war in general(at its most basic level) is to either acquire or defend territory. There's no 'humanitarian' wars, there's no 'Arab revolutions'(which HRC admitted in her book is a mistake.) War has one, and only one purpose. Instead, they thought they could remake these continents by removing antagonistic forces, and then leaving the rebuilding of the country to either the same people who were antagonistic to the US or just hand-wringing altogether.

Many in the EU/European nations were right to criticize this approach of US foreign policy, and the reason for it is the "who we are" crowd reject the idea of properly taking hold of the country whilst at the same time having the forward bases. If it sounds stupid, that's because it is.

I had hoped that a pro-US Nationalist government could turn the tide from the defense industry and lobbyists who prop up this inefficient, disastrous method of warfare, but unfortunately the man with the bullhorn has made that difficult. Nonetheless, we must resist 'who we are' because they have no capacity for government. Its just that their incompetence is mainstream

He mocked pretty much everyone even during his administration except for Xi, Kim Jung Un, and Putin.

With any sane Republican leader, it should have been. But the GOP went full monty on abortion after the Dobbs decision, the constant arguments that the 2020 election was stolen, and the sacrifice of their party in order to keep the economy open at any and all costs. Those things drove the voters who would have seriously considered a GOP candidate over a Dem to actually vote for a Dem, according to some evidence in the exit polls.

As a a (IMHO) true conservative and somewhat of a libertarian I find neoconism to be an "America last" political belief system that does not go away. The so called neocon Wolfowitz doctrine was responsible for our involvement in Iraq which cost the American taxpayer Trillions of dollars and the American soldiers thousands of lives. It seems this doctrine was implemented to make the American taxpayer and military responsible for defending Israel, a country that we have given Billions of dollars to and risked a nuclear showdown at times -- and for what exactly? What is the ROI? Time and time again we see wars where Americans are somehow responsible for policing the world while we fail to defend our own border and our debt spins out of control. We have experienced the Domino Theory, the so called war again terror, Operation Iraqi Freedom, and now the funneling of Billions to the Ukraine. the lastest form of the Wolfowitz doctrine. Again, where is the ROI? Both political parties are simply run by the same Oligarchy and run on spewing soundbites for low information voters. This false dichotomy is not going to end as we all can see from the ongoing dialog here on PF, i.e, constant patisan BS about political parties (yes I admit to getting caught up in that myself) and little or no discussion about overarching political principles and philosophies. Most of us simply ignore the "behind the scenes organization running foreign policy" such as the CFR and just vote for for the candidate we find least objectionable and not for someone we actually admire. I have to wonder in many of these politicval discussion how many posters are paid to post or are in fact bots, given the partisan nature of almost all comments. Well I guess that was my rant for the day. lol

Or maybe it's the Republicans trying to influence the culture (especially as in women and younger people) in a way that they just don't want to be influenced anymore?

Well maybe they're intelligent enough to realize that inflation is a global phenomenon influenced by post-pandemic supply chain issues, a war involving one of the world's foremost energy producers, rampant price gouging and that the Republicans didn't offer any policy provisions to counter it? They just moaned the loudest.

Democrats nominated and elected a brain damaged radical who can't speak to the Senate.

    When you elect this....

When you make your political decisions based on memes and “ owning” the other side instead of asking “How well does this person work towards bettering my life and the lives of others.........”

Name the policy of Biden that bettered my life. I can name dozens that harmed me. I am not his demographic. I pay my taxes. I don't have debt. I am a white straight male who does not need or want any government handouts.

When I grew up the government funded movies that warned about the dangers of child molesters. Now Biden sends child molesters into schools and sics the FBI on parents that object.

I mean Montana Democrats voted against requiring a doctor to save a life because said life might have been an barely-surviving aborted baby.

And equally it might have been another “baby K” aka Stephanie Keene - born without a brain but forced by her mother and the courts to be kept alive on life support for two amd a half years

    So much winning.
    The winning never stops.

This is the leader of the GOP. Well deserved for supporting such a lying narcissist.

In 2015 and 16, the GOP loved all the name calling.
    Little lying Ted.
    Sleepy Jeb.
