I still reserve judgment but after this weekend, he disappointed me.

    Sure I do.

Trump's company settled a DOJ lawsuit over housing discrimination, he authored an editorial on the park five, he launched his political career with the birther movement, his policies are openly supported by white supremacists, he launched his campaign by calling Mexicans rapists and murderers, he called an American born judge inherently biased because his parents were mexican, he refused to denounce the endorsement of David duke for several days, he hired sebastian gorka, Steven miller, Jeff Sessions and Steve Bannon (all individually criticized for being racist or xenophobic) to his staff, and many, many white supremacists think they have a friend in the white house.

Now that you mention all of those things, I see it too. There is a pattern in what he says and does.

    That's not proof of racism.

That's telling it like it is.

Well good. As you said; it should've been said sooner, but he sure did point out the most important things.

Joy Reid needs to learn history, or perhaps needs to start telling the truth.

The Lee statue is nearly 100 years old, as are most Civil War monuments.

The 50th anniversary of the war was what sparked most of these remembrances, not the Civil Rights Movement.

Please quote my post where you contend I said anything like that, and explain how you could possibly reach such a conclusion.

    Thanks.

    No.

(I don't expect you to read maybe past the first line or two below...but I'll lay it out here for the random reader who may be interested...)

At the time - when those thousands of monuments were popping up all across Dixie, it was primarily for the cause of the white supremacist south.

The black population could go to hell. It was meant as a big **** you to them.

In the later 1800's early 1900's - in the south was a time they really flexed their White Supremacist muscle.

That's when the Jim Crow laws, literacy tests, state mandated segregation - and basically full stomping on the Civil Rights of blacks in the South came about with a brute force.

That short bit of time after the 15th Amendment when blacks were allowed to vote, and it was Federally enforced - was gone.

Some states that had the black population make up over 50% or registered voters in the years after the war, plummeted to literally a fraction of 1% by 1900.

At this same time, a resurfacing of Confederate "nobility" came about, and United Confederate Veterans, the United Daughters of the Confederacy set about to rewriting the history of the War.

They started portraying the CSA as being about things like the tariffs, and States' Rights, and tried to whitewash the slavery aspect out of it altogether - and to the extent slavery existed, it was a benevolent kind, with gentle Mammies, generous, loving slaveowners, and happy happy slaves.

They did this to justify Jim Crow and the White Supremacy that brought out KKK and other paramilitary organizations that were terrorizing and intimidating the hell out of the the blacks at that time.

It was those women's groups that set in motion, even a hundred years later, with their Lost Cause propaganda and erecting of these statues all over the South the whitewash myth that still lingers.

I don't feel strongly about moving these statues one way or another, but people need to remember why and under what circumstances they were put there.

The over arching message was: White Supremacy Reigns.

Oh good grief what BS. Trump's father was sued and settled with no fault in 1973 good grief. The park five teenagers, confessed and found guilty of assault of a jogger and rape of a white female jogger Trump said they should get the death penalty, later some dna evidence was found that maybe they didn't rape her but their are certainly plenty that still agree they did. He said some of the illegals are rapist and murderers which is 100% true, uh let's be honest on the judge it was at the heightened MSM mexican maddness and at minimum he should have have recused himself but hey your right Trump called him a mexican. I guess naming one's heritage is a bad thing now. The David Duke thing really he didn't even know who the guy was when asked by the MSM and then did so when he found out. I might remind you of all the congressmen that served in the House and Senate that were actual KKK members, ever heard of Robert Byrd or Harry Truman? Heck David Duke ran for President as a DEMOCRAT.

All this is a bunch of partisan BS and we have plenty of history on Trump hell Jessie Jackson gave him an award for gods sake.

His words, to which you undoubtedly refer, were "Racism is evil – and those who cause violence in its name are criminals and thugs, including KKK, Neo-Nazis, White Supremacists, and other hate groups are repugnant to everything we hold dear as Americans."

Can you provide evidence that Antifa and BLM have caused violence in the name of racism?

Faced with the truth that Reid's statement was grossly false, you sidestep reality and launch into a lengthy diatribe not relevant to the fact I presented.

Reid is either an ignorant fool or a liar - you choose.
