No one should expect governments to tell the truth especially when they are at war.

What matters: Putin ordered the mobilization of a massive invasion force on the borders of Ukraine and then ordered the Russian military to launch an aggressive war against Ukraine in violation of international laws Russian governments helped write. IMO, we should focus on that reality.

War propaganda from both sides is a distraction.
